Apparently every time I've been ignoring the false fire alarms in my building, I've been committing a Level 3 Offense. To put that into perspective, there are only 3 levels of offense possible in my contract. Some of the other Level 3 offenses? Possession of firearms or explosives, sexual harassment, and property damage. Really, I don't mind the fact that we're supposed to evacuate the building in case of the alarm going off; that just makes sense. What bothers me is that we were never told that we had to. The PA system tells everyone to stay in their suites, and the Residence Handbook tells everyone to pay attention to the PA system. Going from "do what you're told" to "run the fuck away or we will evict you permanently" seems a bit drastic.

I dunno, I guess I'm just suffering from "boy who cried wolf" syndrome. In the six years I've lived here, there have been alarms set off about once every month or so. Exactly three of these alarms weren't false. None of them were actually fires, or required evacuation. Two were someone burning something in the oven, and one was someone tampering with the sprinkler system. I REALLY don't want to be pried out of bed, dressed, and stump down 13 flights of stairs because some drunk fuck on the 3rd floor thought he'd have a laugh. The only saving grace that I can think of is that causing a false alarm is ALSO a level 3 offense. Evict that fuck pls? Kthxbai
