I'd guess it gets to the point where the audience for this sort of thing have to actively ask for it with money in hand.

Hah, I know what you mean, I'm not just drawing it, I am also a fan of it so I know how few draw it above a certain level.

Thing is just as how there are quite few that draws it, there are also relatively few that wants to see it, let alone pay for it. Making very little incentive for people to try to do it fulltime. aka It's impossible to live off it unless you're the best. Which I am not.
Several of my fav mainstream-ish comicbook artists draws female muscle from time to time. So it's not like there are no one out there that can't do it. It's more like there is no reason for them to do it unless they wanna starve =P
