yowch i feel your pain i got stuck in a parking lot garage elevator at otakon b/c some of my friends thought it was a good idea to start jumping up and down in the elevator.......lets just say the elevator rocked sideways and stopped......i was the only smart one to actually press the emergency button to get help ><

I'd have killed everyone in that elevator ._.

It happened to us when 2 obese baby furs shoved themselves into an already full elevador with me on it. Causing me to fall into my friend's chest hurting him, a fursuiter to trip on their tail and a girl acidentally getting her butt touched by someone's hand resting at their sides. 3 floors then *ca-CHUNK! rumblerublerumble................EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

The 2 furs looked around acting like it wasn't their fault. Now, me being in suit and trapped on this elevador for a solid 20 minutes They started arguing it was my fault because I was holding onto a friend of mine hugging him in the corner of the elevator. I was so pissed I just blabbed out "THESE ELEVATORS CAN ONLY HOLD ONE OF YOU.... ALONE!!!!"

Seriously. People were so rude with the elevators. My lil bro got shoved, my roomate got pulled out of one, a little old lady almost got smashed by the doors cuz a fur kept mashing the close button. It was PATHETIC. The ear popping should of been the only "issue" but typical furries. Inappropriate and no manors.

Oh man... Yeah... you sound like me one of the nights while I was in my room... some assfucks were runnning around the hallway, screaming and carrying on... at two am... So I gave them what for. Hotel security got nothin on my rage :p

I could handle jumping when the doors closed, but if anyone so much as spoke above a whisper, I could hear it :\ That sucked a lot too

I always have earplugs in at cons. If I can hear you from my room with earplugs in, you're being too loud in the hallway.

Another thing. The hotel doors SLAMMED no matter how gentally I tried to close it. We made good friends with our neighbors, and by Sunday were sick of me cuz my door was broken and would slam no matter what.

Yeah really, the cramped elevators were a freaking nightmare, and people being stupid bastards about it were far from helpful :\ I *might* go back if I stay somewhere else, that was a waste of my time, sanity and money

It SUUUCKED! The hotel is beautiful, glamourous and completely impractical.

Rumors are spreading saying their going back to the old hotel and rumors say their in a 2 year contact. We'll see I guess.

We pulled our car in from our hotel (the Holiday Inn a block from the Westin) to unpack at 6pm Thursday night. The parking garage was already full. The hotel basically forced people to use the Valet service, which meant they were spending more on the hotel than the already outrageous price to begin with.

I'm positive they will be back at the Westin next year because I was right by Rama in the dealer's room and I overheard him talking to a few people about the issues with the hotel, namely the complaints about getting around and the elevators. He said they are looking into booking the entire hotel next year rather than just part of it in order to relieve the issues with the elevator and how spaced out everything was.

We'll see.

I took the stairs a lot, even in suit. We were only on the 26th floor, can't imagine what I would've done if we were any higher up. :/

I won't let the hotel format stop me from attending next year if they go back, but I definitely organized my day differently to accommodate the hotel layout, which was a little bummer. Next time floor 45 is the one to ask for, they had access to all elevators and the 4 with express access to the main floor levels.

We stayed at the motel 6 which was a few blocks away. You can compare it to a walk from the Westin to the Omni/Doubletree at AC, which isn't too terrible. It was a lot cheaper but I'm sure for dealers it'd be way too outta the way.

But, I kinda agree with you, I really hope they get things figured out next year with the elevators. :c

yeah I usually stay at the Doubletree at AC. I would do that for FWA if I could convince all my friends to stay in another hotel... I'd still have to do the elevator thing to get to their rooms

elevators are always a nightmare to deal with at any big con. this was the first time however i was actually afraid of getting stuck in one. i was just trying to get some ice and the elevator kept going up between two floors and the doors wouldn't open, i was just about to have a panic attack before they finally opened

it was a fun con, but yeah, i ended up avoiding a lot because of the elevators

I enjoyed how there was no elevator policing till Sunday night when the con was over. That was my super fav. *thumbs up*

YUP. they kicked me off an elevator Sunday night. then after waiting, let on some non convention guests before us who just walked up - I understand that to an extent, but we're hotel guests too. so I went up a few floors and waited for an elevator that wasn't policed by an asshole

Yeah, I had been waiting for awhile with all my dealer's den crap packed up beside me, and person was just letting people on, but not me. Aside from that, I didn't have too many issues though.

Yeeeahh.. When I heard it was the Westin hotel I did a major facepalm... Some cooks there wanted me to apply to their rotating glass restaurant up there when they came to my current job 30 min away via 85, and I remember seeing it and going, "Nope... I don't like hotels that high, things can go very wrong.."

Sounds like it did with the elevator. Westin is also one of those 'big wig' hotels too, catering to businessmen and not folks like us looking for fun. I think conventions like FWA do much better at low level buildings in the range of 2-3 floors or spread out over a block or two to make access easier for a lot of people. I wasn't able to go this year due to poor communication between friends, but it sounds like a bullet was missed by what you said about the elevators - can't imagine someone with cardio health problems (like myself with asthma) doing well in that environment.

I heard some really messed up stuff about hotel staff harassing con goers that made my skin crawl. XC

Oh the elevators were a JOY. I think I spent more time waiting for them than I did browsing the AA and DD. Of course, after waiting for them (33rd floor, yay, 2 elevators go there!) there wasn't much time for other things. I still had a good time though :3

I was down by the parade route the first (?) time the elevator got stuck. There was just a guy and a girl in there when it reached that floor, but she was understandably upset. I heard they shut it down much much later on Saturday, around the time they started making everyone get in a line. But that didn't seem to last for long.

I'm just glad I'd left my wings up in my friend's room at the end of the night, after the dance contest there was NO way to get in an elevator without getting those crushed. Kind of makes me hesitant to wear them to a con again, but that's why I bought them ;_; Am I to understand elevator sardine lines aren't the norm?

My little secret, especially when in hawk, is to use the service elevators. Also is lots of fun to surprise the staff when the door opens. :D

I went to the after can meeting with Tiger Paw and next year there will be dorsia like elevator rangling. I had no issues with the staff and my room was awesome. I had some issues with a few self intitled furs but overall it was very good. CCI is awesome. There are several hotels in walking distance which I am sure would love to have furries in them. Also very glad that the escalators went to all the con floors. I loved not having to take the elevator except to get to mine or someone else's room. It was nice to see you at the auction. Thank you for making those amazing claws.
