Post Con Report: FWA 2013

Back from the convention with a fresh commission queue, a fresh perspective, and more!
I remember cubetriangle and phylum saying FWA was almost like their "home con", as if it held some sort of personal significance to them. This was interesting to me, as my first con was Anthrocon '12, and I assumed that biggest equalled best. But I can safely say the culture and staff made this con stick out for me. Despite what you probably heard about the hotel, the beautiful Peachtree Plaza Westin (I never want to see the word "Peachtree" again) had the most convenient and easily understood layout. The elevators and thin floors were a pain, but that's remedied easily with some line management. I wouldn't mind the Westin next year.
I participated in my first con Art Show. The staffers were friendly and inviting, allowing me to help out and pick the pannel of my choice, and Crush found its way to a loving home!
If you missed me in the Artist Alley, that's because I was bumped to the Dealer's Den after the second day! My spot in the waiting list came through, and I was able to enjoy more space, lighting, and conversation. Rukan was the best table-mate I could have asked for. He kept me company, always making sure I had food, the ability to go to the bathroom, and wore his "fucking cool jacket", as quoted by, like, twenty-five isolated compliments.
Rukan and I also hounded the SSBB table in the game room. We faced a few solid players, too! My attitude towards losing was genuinely positive, as opposed to my past (Brawl isn't usually kind to my heart in this regard).
I met/reconnected with a few people at the con that have this silent but strong energy behind them. These individuals and I share some sort of connection, although I don't fully realize what that entails. The only thing I know for certain is that I should appreciate them as much as possible.
Just like AC, a huge highlight was screwing around with other artists in the evenings. There is something horribly cathartic about drawing oneself as a Sonic the Hedgehog character.
And here's a good note to end on: After FWA I officially want to purchase a realistic partial, and pair it with some dapper outfit.

"Wolves *dynamic ribbon* Fetch"
Yeah, would have been better.
i would squeal if this was in any way directed at me because i really admire you and i love you a whole lot. it was awesome to get to hang with you (however briefly) and give you massages and stuff!!! i'm going out today to find a frame for your print and it's going straight on my wall next to my om tapestry because it has such wonderful flow to it. i love you so much stiggy, i can't wait to see you again <3333 it's always a pleasure being in your presence!!!
Really though, friends 4 ever. Going to FCN? AC?
(ps. take badge commissions because i need one)
But the wolf one would be for looking like a bamf, and using outside of cons as much as possible.
thank you again for the print! i have a stigmata wall in my office now. is that weird? XD
I want to see them all then!
DEFINITELY NOT ME. -screams-
omg I didn't know you played smash bros!!! We definitely need to find time to play next con we bump into each other! Agghh!! I miss you all so much already ya damn furressss
Neato! Who do you main? I do Ness, Peach, Snake, and ZS Samus when I'm feeling sassy. :>
I'm glad you got yourself a table this time around, instead of being kicked out for the impromptu ghettofabulous set-up in FC. It's been hard trying to avoid news of FWA, especially because I miss the lot of you so much. Lately I've been listening to the JayZ + Chrono Trigger mashup and keep thinking about the rap you listen to.
Crush looks fantastic, I love how you're tackling traditional mediums. Also congratulations on being featured up in the professional website! I wish you the very best man.
I miss you very much and can't wait to make plans with you again.
It's also awesome to hear that you had a great time, and I agree completely that bigger does not mean better. While FWA is still one of the larger furry cons, it is much less chaotic and a lot more personable than AC. I always love the smaller cons, where you can consistently run into the same people and things just have a more familiar, comfortable feel to them.
