I don't mind YCH (your character here) auctions at all. They are a great way to make money, and the artist can focus on getting the character accurate instead of juggling what poses to choose and whatnot. A lot of YCH art turns out pretty great!

However, they are littering the front page and my submission list, and being done by people who aren't being watched by much people (or at least, anyone who will bid). I click on YCH-REMINDERs on the front page, which is linked to the original image, which has 1 bid on a 4 character slot with 2 hours left until the auction ends. Sometimes there are no bids at all... and then the artist complains that they no one is bidding. I can only assume they get discouraged and/or butthurt.

I can understand if they want to make money doing what they love, but come on; establish credibility first so people will bid. Don't just throw out an auction because everyone else is doing it. Do some commissions, fan art, free art raffles, etc.
