Beware, here there be drama!

It's the classic tune to art sites, and FA is no exception.
Doesn't matter what you do or where you go: Drama will follow you to the ends of the earth only to dance upon your grave. If we're not attacking the ego and self-esteem of of young artists who are only just learning how to draw, we're lobbing grenades at those who have managed to establish themselves with wild claims.
Even those who have made a few slip-ups in their time are still here; it's a simple matter of all coming from the same roots. At one point or another, you're that nameless guy on the net with nothing to show but a few sketches that pale in comparison to those glowing pieces in our Favorites folder.
Now, riddle me this:
If we feel it so necessary to bring down everything around us, then why are there still artists? Why would they do some of the things they do, if not to learn or better themselves?
Of course, my previous question will not pertain for long, as more and more of us are disappearing. I hold little faith in this site, and only retain a DA account so I can actually look at art without dealing with shit on the side.
But that's rhetorical, since it seems the shit has never left.
I almost wonder if it's even worth staying.
(Bonus Points: Estimate how long this will stay up.)
(Hard Mode: Keep flames between the 2 and 4 setting on your dial.)
