A letter to my art mentor, Who left too early

Mary Catchpole... You were my art teacher, my mentor and my school mother. You never gave up on me even though I failed every written test and only passed with actual art work. You had the weirdest fashion sense and loved Bob Marley. You had many hardships in life and battled and survived cancer since a young age, but after years and years of a constant war, it won.
It has been three years since I last saw you. I hoped I would one day walk into my old art classroom and hug you. And we would talk about how life has changed and what has happened since I left school a child and have now grown into a man.
I never thought that the next time I would see you would be today at your memorial service.
You can finally have peace. I know you are in a better place and while I will miss and mourn you for the rest of my days, I am also glad that you are finally free.
The impact that you had on my life will always be with me and I hope that you will still live in my heart and every art piece I do from this day forth.
We will always miss you Mrs Catchpole, Mary. Tears will be shed today. But not because of your death, but because of the life you lived, the amazing person you were and for all the peoples hearts and souls you touched.
We all love you...

This is a touching piece, thank you for it. Some people will always be an influence on us.
But Mary went out the way she wanted. Just before she died, she requested that the chuch play the song "New York, New York" by liza minnelli. It made the entire church laugh. Even in death, her sense of humour is still here.
