… who doesn't want a fursuit, and who thinks fursuits are a bit ridiculous?

But then, I live in an area with events almost every month where I could use it, so the utility math is a little different for me than it would be for you.
Yes, they are totally ridiculous. And expensive and hot and all of that. But they can also be a lot of fun. At least, for the socially-inhibited types among us.
So, my opinion, for what it's worth...
Besides that, I've never seen a fursuit I've ever liked. Seems like they're always made with fur cut way too long and looks plastic, they're almost always baggy and dumpy and wrinkle on people, and it costs much too much for me to afford. I'd feel a little silly in one, but... I think that's the fun of wearing a fur suit.
And we're born of individual experiences. Individual opinions are a rarity. There's a whole lot of individuals and not a lot of opinions. Everyone has one, but they often overlap.
However I've seen some minimal costumes that were more masks, wigs and accessories then fursuit, and that I thought I thought worked well.
