Lost in the Past
12 years ago
General
I got lost in the past one day,
Wandering the corridors of my memory and history,
Watching the world pass me by.
Never mind that I expected it to work just fine
Even in my absence;
I was still surprised how little changed when I was behind.
Those I knew barely even noticed the time I was gone,
Not to speak of the world's larger affairs,
And when I returned,
Most were sure I'd never left.
If my absence has such little effect, how can my presence matter at all?
Wandering the corridors of my memory and history,
Watching the world pass me by.
Never mind that I expected it to work just fine
Even in my absence;
I was still surprised how little changed when I was behind.
Those I knew barely even noticed the time I was gone,
Not to speak of the world's larger affairs,
And when I returned,
Most were sure I'd never left.
If my absence has such little effect, how can my presence matter at all?
