What are some good ways I can cope with the megaton bomb of stress that blows up in my face on a daily basis?
I've tried meditation, working out, venting to friends, but still I find myself face down on my desk, "clocked-out" from everything that is racing around in my head.
The only thing that moderately helps is booze. Is booze so bad of an outlet; a coping mechanism? What is 'BAD" anyway? Good, bad, evil, nice, etc are all opinions.
And im ranting.
He goes to AA meetings now.
I think it's best to talk to people or go to a group of people and talk about things. Group therapy, or perhaps go for a walk and exercise. I know you mentioned meditation and working out not really working but I'm assuming you're doing it at home. I suggest doing meditation and exercising at a park or just somewhere you can relax and get away. Yes I know the stress is there when you come back but at least for a while you'll get out of the house.
It's the same with me, so I have to take a bit of time every day to de-stress. For me that's talking to my friends online/drawing/playing games ect.
Of course you could always talk to me too :)
You know I'm always here for you to talk to :)
Booze is the second most common. While its not necessarily "bad" to drink the stuff, its not healthy because it can cause liver failures and other life threatening health conditions. This mostly seems to occur from over dosages and long term light weights. If you drank every weekend from now until your 80, you would be just fine... unless you already have several health issues that no one knows about then I would say stop drinking.
The third most common stress reliever is casual gaming. Casual gaming varies on what you like to play. Key things to note are: You don't play it on its hardest difficulty, you don't go to the MLG tournies and win 50,000 just for t-bagging in halo 4, you don't play against the try hard die hard crowd of people that play the game to win the game. You just go slow, enjoy the environment and sounds with the occasional explosion. After all, you don't have games like Forza Horizon or Battlefield with these amazing visuals and sounds for nothing! Also, avoid kids! They are annoying and should not be playing games in the first place. In other words, try to avoid chatting on xbox to randoms you find online and don't play COD.
Oh and avoid drugs and smoking. Those do relieve stress but kill you faster than booze or simply sitting down 24/7/365 (I personally don't count alcohol as a drug)
Some stress relievers I personally find to be effective is napping in a nice warm bath or shower. I also tend to imagine having super powers or the ability to force choke those who annoy me. While it saddens me it would never come true, I find it to be a comforting thought in a comforting environment.
Cooking relieves stress for me because food!
Trance Music! Something slow and soft is something I find relaxing. My mother tells me it sounds depressing so I go listen to dubstep for a second then she prefers the trance. Gouryella is a 10 minute trance song I listen to frequently because its nice.
I often look at zen gardens now because they are all about peace and relaxation. I have been thinking about getting little nic naks for my room to form my own zen garden and seeing if it actually works for me.
The last thing I can think of when it comes to destressing your self is just do things you like and think about different things that don't involve your day.
