Very very BAD Fucking news!

It turns out my house (or rather myself specifically) has been targeted for robbery by someone i knew and did NOTHING to but trust and treat with respect. Death threats have been made against my friends and by proximity me as well.
Evidence is being assembled, police will get involved once paperwork is in, I/we are ARMED and reinforcing security measures in the house.
I’m a nice guy, i really am, but i swear I must be too nice cuz these last few years has just been people shitting all over me. And now my property, life and livelihood are being threatened for no more reason than I have a nice place with nice things in it and managed to piss off my ex REAL good. That and stupidity and misplaced hatred on the parts of others.
It’s quite possible i WOULD have been burglarized already, but my lucky stars have held out i guess. But that family bullshit i mentioned earlier isn’t even on my RADAR anymore! I am truly and honestly in FEAR for my life! Paranoia got left behind a LONG ways back on this trip, but it hasn’t gotten to the angry stage yet. And god help us all when that shit kicks in.
For those of you waiting for work from me, i understand, hang in there a bit longer. I’m doing the best i can with a bad situation gone REALLY worse and i’m trying to figure out how to handle it all. I can’t really get work done if my workstation is stolen or smashed.

Theft of equipment is a very realistic cause of data loss that few think about... often people prepare for hard drive failure only.

Get one of those seceurty alarms from Lowes that goes off when the field is broken "The door one normally".

If you truly can't, this is just an idea; and it may be dumb as hell:
Perhaps jump the queue by phoning an army or marine office for any security professionals who can provide information on how to best secure both your life, and your home, without police assistance.
I find it hard to imagine that security professionals wouldn't be willing to provide solid advice to someone interested. Especially since I doubt it's a call many of them get with any degree of urgency. Perhaps they might be able to help consider all the implications of unresponsive police to minimize legal issues too.
Anyway, good luck! These are the only ideas I can think of that might help aside from what you're already doing.

Home security information is all OVER the place and it's always the same things, and those are the things we are doing.
Gag is that we could be running the gamut of a sneak theif looking for an empty house or an angry gunman who doesn't care about lights or alarms or locks forcing themselves into the house to kill everyone there and then maybe himself. Nothing protects against that except to shoot first.
Police get urgent calls all the time. Remember that police are not actually there to prevent crime, it just sometimes works out that way. They are there to Assist, Apprehend, Attack and Defend. And they can't act without evidence they can't see themselves because this is a big world and a big old country and there's a LOT of work to do.
IF nothing else it turns into a statistic and a report can speed up response or compound the punishment if they try anything on us. But so far, nothing that has been done qualifies as more than a misdemeanor. It's not even a criminal case yet.
And even if it is, it's just a piece of paper, not a substitute for a barbed wire fence and armed guards or anything.
