FA, how I've missed you... And car issues cause life issues.

From the other side...
I've finally sifted through a good 800 submissions.
I was just going through all my old journals. I honestly love how they really document all the major events in my life, as well as the support I was able to obtain from everyone.
So, once again I'm looking at an issue that could potentially put my LA lifestyle in jeopardy. It's funny how one wobbly domino, let's call it "bad tranny," can cause such a ruckus. Lets say "Bad tranny" decides to wobble all around, and eventually falls over. In the process, it knocks over the domino next to it: let's call it "Fantastic Sam." Then goes the next one: "Clientele." Then it's "Rent," "Apartment," and finally "Location."
Learn well kiddies: This is why you don't ever buy a car for less than $3,000.
Now I'm looking at having to potentially change out my favorite domino! I honestly don't want to leave my job at Fantastic Sam's in Torrance. I love it there. But I need a vehicle that can get there without the transmission slipping when I push the gas in 1/16 of an inch too far. Unfortunately, no dealership in their right mind will finance me, due to my lack of credit, not to mention my student loans which are on the verge of going into default. I don't have the cash to buy another car outright, and I can't pull enough cash out of selling/ trading in/ scrapping my Saturn to get anything equal value, let alone something more worth my while.
So, my fuzzies, I have some questions for you.
1.) Any recommendations on the Saturn?
2.) Does anyone know of a Mid-level salon in the Downtown LA area? Ya know, not too shady, not too snobby, but just right?

This feels like a job of going to a few car rateing websites and if not seeing if Cartalk talks poorly about Saturn.
Other than that...I don't know. I do wish you luck on this problem though.
*laughs* I'd have no place to put a second car perssonally.
