ASMR

Or "Autonomous sensory meridian response"
Basicaly, this Had it for a while but only recently discovered that there's a name for it.
If you get a reaction other than, "dafuq is this?" then I know I'm not alone.
Think of it as synesthesia, but instead of seeing sounds, you feel them as tingling/shivers and/or sudden relaxation. I know it's odd and off topic, but I gotta know, who else feels sounds like this?

FA+

Do you close your eyes and enjoy it as if you were eating them?
It's like sex, but food... I can't think of any other way to describe it... well, maybe not sex exactly... but IDK...
thanks for showing me that.
"I'll take a potato chip... and eat it!"
I don't really find anything sexual about ASMR, but in a way, it's kind of pleasureable. It's difficult to describe without making it sound that way, but I think of it as someone getting a scalp massage or having someone fiddle with their hair. It's more of a long lasting feeling of comfort rather than a sudden euphoria.
And I don't really have to be concentrating on a trigger sound to be affected by it. I remember back in high school, whenever we were in class and someone had a bag of chips or some kind of crunchy snack they were eating, I'd lose focus. As long as I'm not doing anything physically demanding, it's really tough to phase out and as good of a feeling it is, it was kind of annoying sometimes.
But yeah, ASMR's really difficult to describe, and again, thanks for responding=D
I like your descriptions, they work well.
I kinda just meant listening to the youtube clip, does it feel better to stare at the picture of the food, or to try to close your eyes or listen to it while doing something else?
Indeed, hearing something like that can be quite distracting when in class, and especially when your hungry and don't have your own to eat...
I would feel that it would be a cross between pleasure (though feeling somewhat empty if you can't have any) and annoyance that you are getting so distracted by it...
Definitely the first time I'd heard of this ASMR before...
And no problem, glad to have given you my input, I had the time, and thought it was interesting.
I always find it disheartening when I post something I was expecting to receive some kind of response from, and then... nothing.
And I hear ya on the posting thing. This one, though, I would have been pretty devastated had no one responded, because I really would feel alone on the subject. ASMR's a pretty odd thing as it is.
It's not sound that gets me though, its odd tactile things; like putting your hand in a sack of rice or the squeak of sand on a hot day as you try to run from the water to the shade (if you've experienced that then you'll understand what I mean by squeak). Those work their way up my back to the base of the skull, my reaction is somewhere between elation and the way little kids react when someone tickles the side of their neck.
Ahhhh, I gotchya. The squeek of sand or any kind of grain doesn't do it for me. That's more of a grinding feeling, and if that's below my feet or in then palm of my hands, that's where I feel more of a tickle (which is why I seldom go shoeless on sand). If I were to see someone squeeze a hand full of oats or rice in front of me, I'd have to rub my hands together to keep from feeling ticklish.
It's interesting, though, that there are various triggers for different people.
I appreciate the response, too! It's awesome knowing that there's someone out there that I've actually met with the same mentality, I guess you can call it. =P

(also you didn't reply to Beige, so he doesn't know that you've responded... It's something you just have to get used to doing, I've done it a few times before...)
My favorite is the virtual haircut and the box of matches around your head!
