The main reason I like FA is I tend to get comments. Since pretty much my entire reason for even bothering to scan/upload my artwork - apart from sharing it with friends - is asspats. So if I don't get those, that removes a large portion of why I care, since I usually share with my friends in person or VIA IM. :d

Also, I like to lol at the creepy stuff so it's not really a... negative thing for me.

Yeah as soon as I started posting on FA and realised how much attention EVERYONE seems to get here and how easy it is to communicate and build a support system I got bored with DA. I mean jeez .... I got a Daily Deviation on DA but I was still a nobody lol
Pluss it's just nice to know you can get away with posting almost anything here and atleast somebody will like it. With DA I always felt that only my very best work would be noticed.

DA is a wasteland to me. It's just way too fucking huge. When you're on the front page of DA, it's a fart in the wind. You end up lost in sea of shitty pictures of shitty things and half-assed anime scribblings. Sure there is a lot of good art on there but you have to dig so much now to find it.

Here at least my crap gets a little acknowledgment, even if I'm not especially furry or talented. On DA the only thing that gets even a bit of attention for me is any fan art I do. *jaded*

Yeah, it'd be nice to be recognized by... i guess a more -varied- audience? i agree with that, but hey, i take what i can get. lol. 'sides, i post stuff here other than just animals and anthros because i draw more than just those, and i've never gotten negative responses to my doing so! i wish FA weren't specifically furry, but oh well!

Although I do hate when I hear people say "oh, but i cant upload everything to FA 'cause its not furry.." and that makes me sad, I wish people felt okay with posting all of their stuff here. I guess if that happens though, then FA would start getting that DA feel, so its either or?

FA ftw. I like the community better, everyones nicer and loves talking to everyone else. Though I'm sure, at the very least, half of the site users are here for the porn. :|

DA is SOOO impeccably massive that everyone just sort of ends up in odd little niches and it's harder to navigate to lesser known but equally awesome artists. It also has this vague air of pompousness or an elitist sort of feel, I think.....

Very well-put! i hate how hard it can be to find the great artists over at DA, and there are SO many. not to say there aren't here too, but it just seems a lot easier to track them all down.

i.... avoided uploading to da a long ass time ago.
i was uncomfortable with the sheer volume of mass public
i still felt overwhelmed and unsettled by the massive network there.
it is easy to feel negatively scrutinized as an artist there too
especially if you dont draw to favourable or popular demand
small fish in the ocean, etc etc, like others have commented of
and im too much of a pussy with my art to handle having huge
publicity/network in my face to begin with haha.

altho it is often argued that you find less talent then you do here in fa, on da
you have to go through much more effort to find said talent.
and the community here at least seems to be genuinely open-armed to eachother
and everybody interacts with everybody else.
i think ive actually managed to develope more sociability from this site, oddly enough
because artists here are just so damn friendly. haha.

the porn here freaks me out tho haha. but its easy to avoid that.

i totally agree that FA is just -nicer-. i've felt that too, people aren't afraid to talk to each other and be kind for no reason. nobody talks to me on DA any more, hahah. i think in a way i've also become more sociable through this site too!

On DA, it feels like you're posting into a void. The comments, when you get them, are like "WOW THATS AWESOME" aaaaand that's about it. Here, you're already pigeon-holed into one community, and the smaller communities that make it up are far more accessible and comfortable. I feel like I'm allowed to have FUN here, where on DA, I get self-conscious (like lobotomydog said!) - on DA, there are several amazing/professional/fine artists etc, whereas here, I don't feel that pressure. I think everyone knows this place is here to enjoy and have fun with. DA definitely feels like myspace - everyone knows about it, and it's not worth sifting through all that disposable crap to get to the goodies (where you wouldn't feel comfortable settling in, anyways).

also, i HATE the layout on DA. it's too hard to find everything.

Hmm... you're not the only one who's mentioned the layout of DA being sucky! personally i don't mind it.. what i really don't like is the categorization system [as well as the fact that you can't upload something without categorizing it]! i agree with everything else you said, though!

every time i go back to da, my wtf-is-going-on-o-meter goes off the charts. i can't understand the new features and i don't want to. plus the ads and everything - it's just too much. i like the setup/layout/features on fa a lot better, but i really don't like furry that much.

somehow though, having a site that's this easy to use and correspond on is making me want to make a lot more furry art.. it's a trap!
