One of the most important parts of commissioning a fursuit is having a clear reference image of your character; this not only helps preventing miss-communications but also helps the fursuit maker create a suit spot on to your intended design!

Though free to use art is very nice, mostly because it is free, I do recommend commissioning reference art from an artist who is familiar with the fursuit craft and can give advice on what does and does not work well on a fursuit. The biggest frustration when building suits if fur color, as much as we all wish that quality faux fur was available in all colors of the rainbow the truth is there is only so much of a selection out there, and working with another artist who is aware of this can really help create a quality reference sheet for a fursuit maker!
