You could always up your prices a bit without it necessarily being for paypal charges. If you feel like your art is worth more than you're receiving then go for it!

If people send payments as gifts, I think it might eliminate the fees.

It would, but paypal would freeze my account if it was found out. xD

What really hurts is that, years ago, they froze my account and seized my funds just for having bought two things from the same guy in a short period of time. Never saw any of that back. I won't do business with them again. I'd suggest others do the same, but that's up to personal preference.

Anything else that anyone's willing to accept; cash, sometimes a certified check or money order for more expensive things, sometimes an envelope full of bills. There's apparently some other services that're far less crooked and have lower fees, but I haven't tried any of them myself.

can you do it so that instead of invoicing the payment you just give the recipient address and get people to send it for a service, like how it is to pay for things on Ebay?

there's a way to get around the fee at least for the person receiving the money. If payment is selected as a gift for example the person sending the money pays the fee, thus the receiver gets the full amount. That's how I usually send money to artists and stuff because I don't think its fair that they get some pulled because of paypal's stupid fee.

It is not allowed by PayPal to expressly ask to cover the fees.

Now they don't care one bit if you just factor them into the price itself.

That is, if you say "item X is $20 and cover fees" it's wrong, if you just say "item X is $22" (or whatever it would be), it's ok.

I normally just give a little extra to cover fees when an aritst gives me their paypal address. I looked up a fee calculator so that it'll help pass on the full amount.

You can always do like they do on television and charge a shipping and handling fee to cover costs of shipping, etc.
