Hey, everybody. I'm going between tiredness and alertness. Thanks again for being so patient with me. In the meantime, I'd like you to watch this four minute video. Its combined narrative may be the strongest anti-suicide effort I've seen.
On Facebook, this video received some contrary opinions. Some of my friends found this video patronizing to those struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts. While I don't think this critique is applicable to this video, it's certainly good to be informed on what real depression feels like.
If you've talked to me in person about character designs, commissions, or anything else, you'll understand why I think being an artist in the furry fandom puts one in a unique position to help other people. If toulouse and I get our Anthrocon lecture slot, that'll be the emphasis of my presentation; until then, let me just state that artists exist to be in service to others. Practice to the fullest, that you can serve others more, and with time your art will serve you.
Side-note: An updated version of the oil painting from FWA is now available!

This is beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this.
Taking ownership and responsibility of your life is the first step to taking control of your life. The video very eloquently shows us that even in the darkest points of our lives, there can be purpose and meaning if we choose to find it and that we become much stronger people through adversity than through comfort. Conversely, that there is beauty to be found, even in hell, should tell us that its pretty dang easy to find around us.
People don't seem to realize sometimes how small their world really is in the early part of their lives. The world is a much bigger place than most people realize, and they should take the time to see more of it before closing a door that can't be opened again.

This does not talk about how many times I've been suicidal. But that was basically all the time. Sometimes worse than others, with a few rare months here and there I was not. What a terrible existence this was. What a hell.
Thank you for this video, Stig... I sincerely hope his message spreads. Thank you for being who you are and always trying to uplift others.
To anyone else out there who is in pain... Know that you are loved.
If the message was to make something good out of the pain you feel, then I didn't miss it, as I already have this mindset, but it didn't help me much. If it was something else, it flew over my head. I'm not denying its emotionality or sensibility, though to me, it wasn't anything special or helpful.
