Heads up! -going out of state!
As I've communicated to some new clients, and some current, I will be going out of state on the 5th of June for my sister's wedding across the country. I'll be making a couple pit stops on my return trip and won't be home until the 17th or 18th at the latest.
It is my goal to finish the projects in my current queue prior to leaving and hopefully be able to make a postal run no later than the day prior to my flying. From what I've gathered from everyone, the deadline to meet is AC, so if things are sent out within the first week of June there should be no issues getting everyone's orders to them by that time. Money is very tight right now, as the purchase of plane tickets is not cheap and the drain of rent is looming on the horizon.
Money.
The root of all stresses and evils.
That said, I want anyone/everyone who has given me money to complete things not to be stressing out about my finishing their projects. I have a PILE of art/crafts to work on all the time and no one person is taking priority over the next. I spend way too much time out of my day answering e-mails that would best be summarized into one big informative email instead of multiple short messages. The same theory goes for messenger services. <3 I understand checking in on how your commission is coming along, but if you'd like informative updates, I'd prefer you asking for one from the get-go and setting a schedule to share updates via email.
I would also like to note that people should keep in mind that the casting process does not always come out correctly. This is especially true of silicone casting, which sadly can go wrong all too easily. This has been one of the biggest set-backs in completing blank orders as there is a new eagle tongue in the works and I am still trying to figure out the art of casting silicone within silicone. I was experiencing a sticky layer on the castings that I only figured out how to remedy this morning thanks to my roommates advice. SO! Tongues are happening! Padding is happening to blanks that have been cast! SOON I will be using my airbrush to give some color to a couple blanks that will be going out---all with a goal of being finished by the first. SO! Keep an eye on the gallery for photos--although I am not a huge fan of posting 'half finished' masks, some might appreciate seeing how things look prior to furring.
I am also planning on making a pre-made head featuring the hawk blank pictured in my gallery. I am pretty excited to get to this guy, but haven't been able to touch making a pattern for him yet since I've been working on orders for other peeps. Hopefully when I share images of blank orders that are completed I'll have pictures of him as well.
As a side note, I am also going to mention that due to blank orders taking up so much of my time I am going to slowly phase out this option for commissions. I really would like to be able to focus more on creating complete heads/partials for people rather than becoming a part-maker for people. I want to have more fun than just casting parts and putting them together. I'll also be phasing out doing orders for just paws as they are VERY time consuming and make me sad that I don't get to see the face that they're to go with. It's far easier to include the cost of the time spent creating them into the total cost of a partial rather than charging so little (while not having a huge fur supply) and exhausting what I charge on buying materials alone and paying myself $20-30 for HOURS of work sewing pawpads on. SO MUCH SEWING--time for me to go!
If anyone has any questions, or need clarification on information, I'd urge them to email me with any issues you might foresee. Spyn0ff[at]gmail.com
