King of Gorilla City? HELP!

From the Desk of Jack the Gorilla....
Well a roller coaster of glee and apprehension right now. I've been invited to guest GM the next adventure for a roleplaying game. This game has been going on since the early 90s. So I'm honored to have a shot at this. Also the game is going to be based on the discovery and adventures in Gorilla City. Great, I'm just hoping I do a good job. Well there is a new problem. My friend expects to play his character (a pc when he's running) which is basically a god, and dwarfs super man. I can only stretch the stats of my material so far. So how can I make a game that doesn't make flash and green lantern useless or a challege to all withoiut steam rolling those two pcs. Am I boned?

Honestly, if it were up to me, I'd have everyone roll back their characters to early level (a "retcon", if you will) or have everyone roll up new characters.
If you feel you can stretch the stats of your material so far without being ridiculous, then you can do that. If you don't feel like it can go, you're going to need to have a talk with your players before the game starts and explain to them your concerns in a clear and concise manner.
Or, if you're feeling creative, find ways to mess with your players in creative ways that they wouldn't see coming. Force them to confront their weaknesses at every turn, whatever those are. Come up with unique problems that can't be busted through. Get your players to trip some kind of undetectable trap that causes their powers to become severely addled, effectively forcing them into a point where the game you have prepared is enough of a challenge.
Finally, and this is last ditch if talking and creativity get you nowhere, just don't even bother scaling anything. In fact, scale everything down to a level where they would be for a low-level game in order to prove a point about power tripping.
I just really, really hate god characters. Especially since the only way god characters are good characters in storytelling is when they have deep moral conflicts, most of which are far too deep to explore in any kind of a tabletop game. Otherwise you get Superboy Prime. And nobody likes Superboy Prime.
