Goodbye Dakota

She had a type of cancer on her leg that had gotten worse and she could hardly walk anymore. I felt that it was the correct time for her to be at peace.
She went peacefully to the other side.
I already miss her a ton. She was my first dog, although I've been around dogs all my life with my family. She was 11 1/2 and had a great life. 2 squares a day, her "own" couch and chair and a daddy who loved her very much.
No matter who you have in your life who you love, make sure you tell them that every chance you have.......cause you never know when they will not be with you.

I still feel guilty for doing this to our dog too...... it's like killing the pet that was with you... and ours was with us for 16.5 years, that's 2/3 of my life so far...
Maybe this will help you too to overcome it:

Shadow and i are here if you want to chat and Shadow has already informed the TLC Canine group that she did indeed send you to them if you decide to get a new Shepherd pup through them.

She was a nice dog and she will be dearly missed.
Dogs have a special way that they get in to our hearts. They become our friends. They become our family.
I am glad she went peacefully and you were able to save her from a painful life.
My hugs to you.
