So I've been thinking about commissions
Since it's a school break now for me, I've been thinking about the possibility of opening commissions. Never done it before (Heh, never even bought commissions before :P) I've thought about doing a quick test, to test the waters on how this would be like.
So I've thought about drawing maybe a few requests. Probably 2 slots open, perhaps 3 if I have the time. Since I'm expecting to get flooded by comments, I'll ask this question. What's the best use of bacon? I'll try to pick the funniest answer. Could be anything, like wristwatch, hat, or steering wheel covers, the sillier the better.
I'll draw some half-body art that looks a bit like this: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10642187/ I'm also only comfortable drawing canines or canine-like critters, so if it's some other character like sergals or dragons then I don't think I'm confident enough to draw them :c General furry art btw, I don't want any adult/fetishy/out of the ordinary stuff.
This is not a raffle btw, I don't want to get so flooded, so please don't promote this journal :P (gonna leave this journal overnight and check it tomorrow morning) If you comment here, I assume you're fine with it and you want me to draw your character :3
Though there's other things I want to ask. If I were to open commissions, how much would you be willing to pay? How much do you think my art is worth? Maybe stuff like the example I put up there (I'd consider that simple bust, since it's pretty messily sketched and fast), or full body drawings, or more cartoony, or icons.
Also I don't really understand payment systems. Would it be better for you to pay full price upfront or half first, then half later? Cause if it's the half-body one, I can do that pretty fast, depending on motivation. And how would you pay? Paypal or something? If anyone can give good advice on this it'll be awesome :3
I also believe I'll have to set some terms and conditions (aahhhh.. kind of boring :3) but that's not really much of an issue.
[EDIT] I guess I'm pretty much closed now :3

For the payment system, I think the best way is show first a sketch of what you have done(so the commisioner can say if it's good, something needed to be changed...), and receive then the money. It usually works good that way And Paypal is always the best option (except for NSFW, but there're some methods)
And the best method to use bacon is doing a drawin of Kevin Bacon with bacon
And here's the ref
fireworks that make it rain bacon?
price?
i wouldn't know since i can't buy/sell things over the net,
but i'd say 1-10 dollars?
most artists want payment up front, unless you want to get approval before finishing/finalizing the art, when you would show them it first (with watermark or something to stop them taking it without paying) then get payment before posting the finished article.
I'd say start at a price that seems fair pay to you for your time and raise it if you have too much demand.
Bacon truly is the answer to all the world's problems.
Paypal is by far the most opoular (and safest) way to send/receive payments.
I love your style of work so I might be a bit biased, but I think for one of your typical full body drawings...$20 (US),extra character +$5....bust $15....icon $10.
Would I buy one (or more)......ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!!!!! (been asking for a year)
Best use for bacon....NECKTIES Dont have to worry about geting grease on them or having them cleaned...also make a handy way to cary a bacon snack with you.
Payment system...some aritsts I know want it all before they start (dont mind this with a known artist that I trust) some do a rough sketch and then ask for full payment before proceeding.
Hope this helps.
I have a minimum price people have to pay for my simplest work. which is a full color and shaded piece with a simple background. I don't like lowering my quality for cheaper prices
Anything extra they want. Like additional characters, high detail, etc. Cost as much as the customer and me believes is fair.
That said. It's possible for the customers to get a great deal. And for the artist to get a fair amount of moniez.
And you only pay once the sketch is done!
maybe make space stations out of it. or use it to construct a new planet. or maybe use it as a whip.
idk g_g
Or maybe... maybe you've got tonnes of bacon lying around. Stitch together huge ass lines of bacon, fry it.
BACON ROPE
BACON BANDAGES
BACON HAIR EXTENSIONS
BACON STREAMERS
The possibilities are quite literally endless!
Or quite possibly, you've got more bacon than you know what to do with.
Bacon Plate Armour is your only choice. Your enemies will be stunned into silence, in utter awe at your ability to command so much bacon. Need a pepper up in the middle of combat? Eat a bit of armour! Need to barter peace with an enemy that just wont give up? They won't be able to resist the offer of bacon. Being defeated in battle? Exemplary last meal right at your fingertips!
(Warning: uses for bacon void when in general use around dogs or other carnivorous animals)
Of course, if you want renewable bacon then you need to plant and cultivate it so you can grow your very own bacon bush. I can just smell those delicious, sun-sizzled leaves dripping with grease now!
About the commissions--I think everyone else has pretty much said it. :) Yes, you would definitely get commissions because your art is awesome, PayPal is probably your best bet for payment, and I would think that either upfront payment in full or payment in full after you rough out a quick sketch and you get the go-ahead from the client would be fine. As to the prices...do what you think is fair without selling yourself short. It's your free time, after all.
As far as commissions, I don't do them myself, so I couldn't tell you, but I've loved yer artwork, so I'd likely be signing up for a slot or two when they open!
