Feed back on handling lost & found
Question to the community, what do people think about lost & found and the way we organisers are currently handling it?
It's been quite apparent we're not tackling lost and found well at all because our bag of stuff keeps growing faster than what we manage to give back to the owners.
Thing is we've resisted just naming the items we have because we worry opportunists will see "Oh a load of Magic the Gathering cards" and be like "Err yep those are mine!"

Ok recently I've not posted reminders about lost and found, but even when I did tweet up and such I dunno if it's because people missed them, or people simply don't realise we gathered a lot of loot. I mean we've got sweater, hoodies, all sorts of shit.
I'm not even sure having a dedicated thread on UKFurs about lost and found is going to help seeing how forum interaction is continually declining. Do people have any bright ideas?

I doubt anyone would claim something is their's when it isn't, the MancFurs community isn't that petty. Though it's usually down to the owners to get back in touch if something is lost, as I remember when I left my jumper at a meet last year I managed to get it back when I asked about it so maybe a thread with what's in the lost/found box could help find their rightful owners.

You could ask if said person has any proof that they own an item - i.e pictures of them with the item. I can see this only really working with worn items such as clothes etc.

If it's new it may be hard to find proof. xD

In fairness, I lost something at CF and didn't even notice until CF staff tweeted me saying they had it. x_x Small items, including hoodies, can completely go amiss.. Most wouldn't even remember x_x
