Extreme Anthropomorphism on National Geographic TV

Boomer The Dog's journal
Woof woof, I'm so excited! I took part in a segment for the National Geographic documentary series Taboo about Secret Passions, and how I'm a Dog.

The first airing was last week, but some Furs have said they missed it. The good news is the episode appears to be scheduled again tonight Tuesday June 11 at 6 pm Eastern time in North America. If you miss it again, look for it on the schedule at NatGeo's site.
There's more background on the filming and my thoughts on it at my site http://boomerthedog.net , with links to the schedule for the show if you're interested..
Have fun watching, it was a lot of fun to do, and I hope that comes through, woof!

The white paper I had too, and I bought one stack that's light gray, which is why the suit cost $10.
I thought that the suit might fall apart after a few wearings, but it's lasted way longer than I thought it would. You could make a paper Sonic suit if you can find bright blue paper.
Eventually I'd like to build a nicer costume that really looks like my Dog even more, as you see in my icon.

I know this is your personal view of the fandom, life and what it means to you, but the consequences is that anyone outside the fandom who has see this episode of Taboo, will get a very awkward first impression of the furry fandom as a whole.
I don't know anything about the show talking to AnthroCon, that video probably is covering an earlier event.
It was a talent agency from the west coast that contacted me, and they really didn't seem to know much about Furries, they were looking for stories and found my website, where I go into being a Dog (http://boomerthedog.net). My take on the NatGeo filming is there too, if you want to read it.. They even asked if I was a Furry, and what my connection to it was.
The producers for NatGeo that worked with me didn't know about Furries either, and actually the theme for this years' shows was taboo things that happen right here at home. They wanted to talk to Furries and meet some of my friends to get their take on it, but actually the segment was to be about my Dog story, as their stories focus more on individuals rather than groups to begin with.
I knew what I was getting into, I have a story and want to bark it, it may go through their method of storytelling, but I'm fine with that. It's the way that they communicate effectively to their audience. It's like when Furries make art, other Furs know what it means almost instinctively, yet people outside of the fandom often don't know what to make of it.
I'm glad to hear your views and thanks for writing!

I actually have a name for him, Papey.. :) Oh, I'd definitely like a real Boomer suit one day, built by only me though, as it's too personal of a thing to let anyone else do it.

grow the fuck up and act like an adult.
also, do you even REGISTER for cons? because from what i hear you just crash them.
I started to eat Dog food when I was 13 or so I guess? Anyway, we had Dog food around because of my Collie named Pongo, (you can see his picture at boomerthedog.com) he ate that food, and I was goin' Doggie at that time, and I tried it too and it wasn't half bad, giving me a kind of Canine feeling, the same as putting a collar on or other Dog things feel like. I even got down to nibble out of Pongo's bowl, and he'd get jealous and use his muzzle to push me out, and then kind of stand over the bowl looking down, and I found that funny.. :) It was almost like play, because if I didn't seem like I was going for his bowl anymore, he would instantly stop guarding his food and pop right up to play again, so it was like a game.
I actually prefer to act like a kid, or puppy.
The con register thing is actually FUDD about me from our so-called leaders in the fandom. I find it disgusting, but keep in mind why they'd do it. Anthrocon is a big money corporation, with $millions of cash flow as Furry has grown so much over the years. They have a corporate image to protect, and don't want the idea that name-changing Dog food eaters exist part of the fandom, so they drop half truths on Facebook, Twitter and forum postings to seed distrust of those who are different, which leads to posts like yours. They know exactly what they're doing, now, who is exploiting others again?
Thanks for writing Dallas Green Wolf. By the way, a Border Collie buddy of mine lived in Terrell TX, about 30 miles outside of Dallas, so I've been there, at least around the Greyhound station anyway.
