So an update. I have been in some serious pain since about the middle of April. Lower back pain with constant pain down my left leg. Hit up the doctor, got an MRI, saw a Spine Specialist yesterday. I have a degenerated disc that herniated and is sitting on my nerve root. Setting up an appointment for Physical Therapy soon and just trying to stay as active as the pain will let me. If the pain does not start subsiding, I will be looking at a possible epidural to calm it down some.

it is possible that they can put in a pad to the left and right of the nerve. That way the cartilege isn't removed, just "thickened" a little bit where it's pinching the nerve. minimal recupe time and not terribly long surgery as I understand the procedure (unlike replacing the entire disc, which is a nightmare.)
