An End and a Beginning

START READING THIS. As I begin to wind down at my current spaceflight job, I have been attached to work Ascent Redundancy in what will be my final launch, the ascent of IRIS on a Pegasus XL this Wednesday evening. I will still be on the job until my official last day, on August 2nd.
It just so happens that my new space job, at the Griffith Observatory, starts the day after on Thursday. I'm excited to be working at a world class facility and can not wait to make myself as large an asset there as I did for my current employer.
It's interesting, the contrast of a 24-hour turnaround.

Astrodynamics is a must in terms of classes. Finding a cubesat project to work on may help, if your college doesn't have one, bring it up with a professor you work well with and suggest it as a project.
Internships help, and depending on your location, you can find what exactly you want to be involved with.
And there is a big association of us! The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, of which I'm a member, and they allow student members: https://www.aiaa.org/StudentBranches.aspx?id=3268
