Anthrocon 2013

It's such a shame that it's been 3 years since I've been to a con. They're so wonderful and serve as an excellent reminder of just how welcoming the furry community can be. Looking back at my last journal gave me a bit of a chuckle, as this year's AC was last minute too..this time much more literally. On the Wednesday "before" the con (some people were already there!) my awesome friend
DasPunk mentioned that he could no longer attend due to a room cancellation. This sparked my interest but I knew a ride would be a pain in the butt, so I asked local friend and star penguin
AlistairAnaheim if he was going. He was, he had room in his car, and he barely needed any money to get over there. What luck! I was on the road the next day falling asleep in the car like a total buttheadcat.
I had been looking forward to seeing a couple of people, but being as last-minute as it was the only person I -knew- I'd see was Nephy (the blue thing above) and
sarki , two close friends whom singlehandedly made the trip worth taking. Sarki is the best friend a guy could have and he made me feel more welcomed than I can put into words. Luckily, his boyfriend
Sekhburd was equally welcoming if perhaps less nibbly. I was introduced to what was initially a group of 5 that quickly turned into 15-20 people, none of whom I'd ever met before. A select few of them I had played TF2 with quite a few years prior, but it'd been ages since I'd seen them. The best part was, every one of them made me feel like a good friend and a part of the group despite my extreme shyness. I'm going to throw a bunch of icons in here that hopefully summarizes most of the people I met;
sarki
Sekhburd
JousterL
Reverend_Browning
DunstanMarshall
Kite
L0st and others who's FA I don't think I've found yet. You know who you are..! I think!...
It was really one of the best weekends I've had in years and I can never thank everybody enough for, intentionally or not, giving my mood just the kind of booster it needed to turn my perspective around.
