AC 2013 follow-up
This year's AC was awesome. It was a lot of work, being on staff, but I'd not trade that for anything.
I got to do a fair bit of fursuiting and helped out in a performance on the main stage.
Ignoring the stuff I helped with that turned out very very well for getting all the STUFF to the DLLCC for the con, Thursday was nuts getting things ready for the con and I didn't get to suit at all, though I did see many fursuiters running around, it was awesome.
Friday I got suited up after the opening ceremonies for the "So This is Your First AC" panel. I loved being one of the examples of what not to do to us suiters. Uncle Kage showed how not to approach us with his phone out and jokingly took a pic, which ended up just being my left eye, hehe. I soooo want a copy of that pic from him. I suited around for a bit after that and then got outta suit before running around and attending the fursuiter Sardyuon (
mighty-creation ) performance. My mate
wolfboy1 and I were asked to assist him with his chair stacking part of his performance. Having remembered it from last year and being amazed, I was beside myself with happiness at being asked to help. He is such an amazing fursuiter and performer. His first performance went off without a hitch. He unexpectedly called my mate and I back up to the stage for a bow at the end, which I was not expecting, we were only handing him the chairs, not actually performing. After the performance, backstage, he asked if we wanted to help him during his encore performance, we of course said yes. I asked if I would be able to wear my plush suit to hand him the chairs, he was all for that. I would have worn my plush suit for his first performance if I'd have known he needed our help more than 20 minutes ahead of time. Following his show, he went out and signed autograph cards in suit, the line was huge.
After that we had a couple hours to go through the dealers den before 2 the Ranting Gryphon had his show that evening, which was amazing and hilarious as always. =^_^= After his show I was wandering around and saw both
denimwizard and
makuus plushing about, I of course glomped both of them. =^_^= I then made my way to the artist reception, was awesome food and even better art and company.
Saturday started off with the super sponsor luncheon and then getting suited up for the parade and fursuit photo. The day before, Denim and Makuus and myself had all agreed to meet up in hall A (where the pic was taken) so we could all be in one group for the giant photo. My mate actually got into his suit and was a part of the record photo. Hopefully soon we will see what Guinness Book says about our world record attempt. I hung around with the plush group after the parade while we cooled down and then got outta suit, to let it air out before later that night. I attended Uncle Kage's story hour, which was amazing, especially his story about Lemonade Coyote, who I never knew but wish I had known. With the way the crowd was at the end of his story hour, Kage could have told the whole lot of us to march on Washington and we'd have likely done it right there and then, hehehe.
Following that I went to get into suit so that I could be a part of a Midori fursuiter group photo shoot in the lobby of the Westin. When I stepped off the elevator in the lobby, I was completely swamped by people wanting pictures of me, not that I minded at all, heehee, I am a bit of a camera whore when I'm in suit, especially as a plushie. It took about 8-10 minutes before I was able to make it to where the rest of the group were and we played around and all acted cute while waiting for one last plush suiter. I cannot wait to see the pictures from the playing around and from the actual group pics. It may have been an impromptu photo shoot, but it was a lot of fun, especially being in the Westin Lobby, as there were sooooooooo many people who got to hug and take pics of and with us.
Sunday started off nice but as soon as I had gotten breakfast, I needed to run up to the room to get into suit so I could make it to Sardyuon's second performance in suit. I made it backstage and he was a bit alarmed I was out of breath, I told him I was rushing so-as-to not be late and he was worried that I'd rush and that I didn't need to rush after-all. The funny thing about Sardyuon is that he is an awesome person out of suit, he is gracious and proper, but when he puts on that suit of his, he becomes very playful while retaining the graciousness and properness. When he performed the second time, he wanted to take it further but did not push it during the normal show, after taking his bows he went back on stage and pushed the chair stacking an additional two chairs, and even though they were wobbling like crazy, he pulled it off. I had asked his translator how to say thank you in Japanese so I could make an attempt at his language to show my appreciativeness towards him. After his show he again signed more autograph cards. I put my suit back on and wandered around the DLLCC and Westin where I found
blimpwolf and he got some good pictures of me being a plush, which I can't wait to see. I got outta suit and made it to the 2 and Kage show. Those two are just purely awesome.
Closing ceremonies was after that and then the staff dinner and the rush to get everything cleaned up and packed into our truck, which went very well this year I thought.
After dropping everything off at the storage place, my mate and I followed Kage to his new place in NC, where we helped him unpack a bit and sort out the lost and found. It was sad to see him move out of his place outside Philly, but his new place in NC is very very nice, an upgrade I think.
Thinking back on the whole con this year, for everything that happened at the con and after the con, my favorite part has to have been when my mate and I helped Sardyuon-son with his performances. He is a person I have wanted to meet since I saw his videos several years ago and to have been able to talk freely with, assist him with his performance (both in and outta suit), to have him hold my hand and have me bow with him, everything, it made my con, so thank you Sardyuon-son, arigato goziaemas (a butchering of the spelling I know, but I know I said it correctly to him in person).
It was awesome also, seeing
wolfpuptk even though we didn't get to hang out as much as I wanted, it was a busy con, as everything I typed above was in addition to my duties as staff there as well. I will damn well make time to hang out with you at MFF2013 Wolfpup.
It was also awesome meeting
ino89777 and her mate
draconicarcher. I am glad they loved meeting me and seeing my suit. If either of you make it to MFF2013, you can hug me and hang out with me there as much as I can spare time, hehehehe.
To anyone I didn't mention here or didn't hang out with at the con, I am sorry, the con was crazy. It's only a few short days out of the year and the way the schedule was, along with my staff duties, I didn't have much extra time. I do sincerely apologize, I can't stress that enough.
I can't wait for next year, to see who is there, who I hang out with, and who I get to suit with.
