I'm in Ohio in the states, like an hour and a half under Lake Eerie. It's been about 90 and will be for a good while, and we just had literally 2 weeks straight of no sun and rain.

How strange, I've spent some time there in the summers before, I've never once experienced much humidity there at all. I've never stepped out of a building and literally choked on the water in the air there x_x

The whole east of the rockies on this continental mass gets humad after april. it's whi I don;t ;leave my beloved coastal desert if I can help it. I used to, when I couldn't help it, getting dragged from coast to coast, but now I don't, so there.

HA! Canada, again I say to you, HA! Finally you get to experience what summer is like here in the Southern US. Today, we had a high of 35deg. C. with 87% humidity. So, it's refreshing to think of a country known more for it's snow and ice (at least in these parts) getting a dose of hot weather. But seriously, these aren't our really hot months. Those come in August and last on into September. Temperatures then will creep upwards to around 42deg.C. with 100% humidity. This is why the older homes are built off the ground with 6m ceilings, "bin"-type windows that tip out at the top. All of this was to channel cool breezes through the house in the days before air conditioning. Then again, it's very difficult to find a home with a fireplace here. Where I live is built on reclaimed wetland (read that as a swamp) that was drained and filled in. (Sure the ground is dry, but it still feels like a swamp.) Our water table is so high here that all of the heavy buildings are built on pilings that are driven down to the bedrock. The hydrostatic pressure from the ground is so high that is you have an in-ground pool you must drain the ground at the same time you're draining the pool, else the pool will pop from the ground. As a result most people have above ground pools. (They're not so tacky when they're built into a rear deck.) Another disadvantage of such a high water table is that our storm sewer piping is so shallow that it doesn't drain worth a damn. (We constantly tie with Seattle (and Vancouver, of course) with total number of inches of rainfall a year. (They have more days of rain, but we get more rain in a single storm. Real frog stranglers.) And the rain here is very strange. The other day it was blackly overcast and pouring down rain by the bucketful. I walked to the other side of the street (a typical 2-lane city street) and it was bone dry, and the sun was shining. It stayed that was for hours. Still, I would like to see snow again. It got tiring growing up in Missouri, but it doesn't snow here. Well, it did snow briefly about 17 years ago, and you Canadians wouldn't laughed your heads off at people's reactions. These are people that basically shrug whenever a hurricane blows through, but go absolutely nutters when a dusting of snow falls. All of the bottled water, batteries and tinned food disappeared from store shelves. There was even talk of closing schools, just because of a little snow that didn't even stick to the ground.
