Have any of you guys gone to MFF? I've never been, and have been thinking about going to more cons. I'd love to know more about it, I've only ever been to AC!
OMG PLEASE DO!
Anyway, its not as big as Anthro Con, though it does has its perks.
Easier to get around and quite a few places to grab a bite.
Also a few establishments that provide delivery if you don't feel like leaving the hotel.
I've only been there once last year, yet I grew to like it.
Me personally, it's a lot calmer that AC.
MFF is my preferred con due to cool fall weather for costuming, Nice bonus incentives for volunteering a few hours of your day to help out, and free food* for ALL levels of registration.
*they have breakfast, lunch, and dinner times that consist of basic small meals. Like cereal boxes and fruit in the morning, sandwiches at lunch, hotdogs/Pizza/Macaroni for dinner. The rest of the day it is a common-area place to chill and have chips, pretzels, and drinks. So if you are tight on money, you can still survive the con! Last year they had a soda fountain!
I"ve been to MFF except for last year, since 2002. It's grown but not near as big as AC. It's usually fun, with lots of panels and HUGE artists alley and a great dealer's room. And the Furry Variety Show is not to be missed. The hotel is rather expensive however, and the hotel restaurant is hugely overpriced, but there are other places fairly close by, including a pretty decent cafeteria right across the street at teh convention center.
MFF is an awesome con! The elevators are really neat (unless you're scared of heights) - they all have multi-colored lights on the bottoms and are totally glass. I haven't had any issues with long lines at this convention, and I cannot recall any of them breaking down (and like the Westin, there's 4 of them).
I honestly can't offer an opinion on MFF being a party con; if there are parties, they've either never been near my room, or have been quiet enough to not bug me. XD
Both Den and Alley are good places to be; alley has more restrictions, mind, but nothing strenuous. Also given that the den apparently sold out within hours of opening (as opposed to 3 days last year)... I'm interested in seeing who all is in there.
Regardless, hope to see you there! :D
