Oh furries... This is why we can't have nice things.
Don't look at it as giving away a fursuit for free, but as an advertisement and therefore investment for future commissions. By wearing your suit some people will ask where I got it from and then I'll tell it's made by you and further advertise the quality by telling how comfortable it is to wear, the field of vision etc.
This will get you more customers and you'll make more money. Throw in a free Badge so I can advertise those as well.
How does that sound to you and when can you be finished?
</sarcasm>
I know the fandom was 'spechul' ... I guess I just didn't realize how 'spechul' it was..
**buzzer sound** DELETED!
This journal made me think of Strong Bad E-Mail for some reason, hence why I was making that reference!
What's wrong with it is that, provided this is all the information that was actually in the e-mail [which seems like it was]: first of all, they gave no serious information, no implication that they actually understand the demand they are making. No link to a reference sheet, or hell, even just a picture so that the maker could, oh I dunno, make the suit. There was no mention of money and payment or anything - this person clearly didn't think about the high cost of materials, time/effort/the actual work put into it, the rush fee, or shipping and handling fees. They may not have expected the suit for free, we can't be too sure, but they obviously didn't care enough to make the initial move of "I'm willing to pay this much; what will that get me? I was hoping for a suit - will this get me one?"
Not to mention the question about August, psh, there's no way in hell this kid thought that through at all! That's TWO WEEKS to plan, construct [cut, sew, glue, detail, carve, paint, brush, tweak, etc.], test, photograph, and send a full fursuit. Two weeks. That doesn't include the potential additional steps of maybe needing to get extra materials, how long waiting for replies/contact between the two might take when asking questions and what not, or complications that might arise. Even in the off-chance the maker was willing to attempt it and achieved what we could label a fursuit, it would be essentially a scrap heap just waiting to fall apart and very unworthy of wearing, and there's no way in hell that suit gets sent off in time to be on the doorstep by August unless this kid lives like right next door and the maker rushed their ass to the post office soon after making it.
The amount of disrespect for people who work their ass off making lovely, lovely things irks me to no end. The reason this is so funny is because the fact that anyone legitimately assumed Katt would so much as consider the notion is pathetic, sad, and unrealistic. That's what's wrong with it.
