Today my mother and I had to make the hard decision to let one of our 17 year old dogs go (Sandy). I'm sure that many of you know this pain already. I was holding him when he left. I think that even though the decision wasn't an easy one, it was the best one for him. He couldn't even walk anymore and was just in constant pain and on all kinds of medication...
I think I'm also scared now that one of them is gone, the other will begin to deteriorate...This terrifies me. He is even older than the one we had to let go today, but he seems to be doing so much better than Sandy was....and now I'm scared that he will stop trying because his lifelong friend has disappeared..

The last few days have been really rough... I just... want to crawl in a hole and hide away for a while.
