2014 hasn't had the best start

Last week was one of the most stressful weeks of my life. My gawd.
Monday morning started out with one of the other couriers taking every single key for every single clinic that I needed to get into with him, causing us both to have to drive an hour out of our way to exchange keys making both of us late for our routes. Awesome start to the day. A couple of hours later I found out that Josh's mother had died in her sleep the night before... An unexpected death due to a heart attack that shocked us all. For those of you who don't know, Josh is my ex bf of 5 years. He has been a part of my life for at least the last 7 years though, and the both of us were very close to his mom. Fortunately enough, that day I was working a route in Baton Rouge and was able to get someone to take over for me on the second half of the day so I could rush to his house where I was just in time to see him help the corner load her up in his truck. =[ I've spent a lot of time with you and his family in this past week.
On Tuesday I resumed work and later that afternoon I put in an application to a special-effects company in my area.
On Wednesday I got a call about my application and we set up an interview.
On Thursday another friend who is also affiliated with Josh, was hospitalized for double pneumonia. DOUBLE PNEUMONIA!!! I didn't even know that was a thing.
On Friday I had my interview. The good news is I got the job! The bad news is I will be basically starting over from scratch just to get my foot in the door. I will be taking a monumental pay cut and going back down to about minimum-wage. This job will benefit me in the long run, however, and it will look good on a resume. I expect to be at an entry-level position for about six months before they move me into a department with higher pay and hire another entry-level person.
On Saturday we had the wake. Tears came in waves and a lot of people came out to support us. It was a really long and really hard day. We crossed that threshold between surrealism and realism and I think things are just starting to sink in.
Sunday we visited my friend in the hospital. He is coughing up blood and has been since about Wednesday. He is improving but at a snails pace. But the fact that he is improving is what really matters. we are hoping to see him out of the hospital by Tuesday.
So yeah, happy new year to me. I've dealt with a lot of change in the last week, some for better and some for worse. I have no idea what the rest of the year has in store for me if it held all of this for me within the first week. All i can do is keep my fingers crossed and hope that every thing else I experience will be for the better. We've had our rough patch and financially things are only going to get harder for me. But I'm hoping that I can keep my head above the water. Not like I have much choice.
I have had a couple of friends that it had a bit of a rough start to this year as well. It seems like it started a little bit rocky for everybody. I hope you guys are doing well and having an easy time of things. Good luck to you and all that is to come in the new year.

I am looking forward to starting work at my new job. I start on the 27th. I am allowed to have as many/any piercings as I want, any hair color that I want, can wear anything that I want and also it is a dog friendly shop so I will be allowed to bring creature to work with me!
Even with the pay cut it looks like it might shape up to be a pretty good trade and I will get a lot of experience. So, at least it's not all bad. =3
