Anima has his own den at last.

Hey, look who finally escaped another furry stereotype and moved out of their parent's place? >,<
I'm now the proud co-renter of a three bedroom apartment, with two other furry friends. The furniture's pretty much all here...except for something to put the TV on. I need some milk crates or something, 6,6
'But Anima,' you might be wondering in less flattering language, 'why did it take you so long to get out on your own?' Eh, there's a laundry list of excuses like commuting from home while going to a community college and working at the same time to make sure I got a degree with a minimum of debt, being unemployed for three years when the recession hit, and a few big financial blows that would have been difficult to weather if I'd been on my own with all the expenses that brings.
Although those are mostly legitimate reasons, at the core I think I just didn't want to deal with a change this serious. The biggest changes in my life have been deeply negative ones. The move to Africa, my time at a university away from home, even every new job I've had over the past 6 years has ended up making me a harder, more bitter person.
Subconsciously, perhaps I resisted moving out because as maddening as living with my folks could be, it was familiar and safe, and wouldn't be another negatively transformative experience for me.
Hopefully this is a change I'll enjoy, that will empower me and bring many great experiences my way. It will certainly make dating a lot less awkward, x,x

My TV stand is an overturned rubbermaid container, and my 360 is propped up against that on a trash can.
