I've been thinking this over. I want to create a list of Deaf Fur artists. If you know any, comment...note...or what not so i can add them. I want share them with others to give them support. :D
hehehehei was only kidding! But thank you <333 I really appretiate it :)
Sadly, my hubber isnt a drawing artist - though his work with poetry is something quite special <3
Keep up the good work! I love seeing groups such as these. My husband was lucky enough to go to a deaf boarding school so he was surrounded by people facing similar struggles - some arnt as lucky. It's suprising how little people actually understand about deafness, and that it can effect the younger generation.
So keep it up! <3
oops i hid my response on accident >.< when i was on the account, sorry. It's cool. Let's see that poetry :O
So do you use bsl?
Yeah. In the states, we call them residential schools. They are a great place for young Deaf to meet others with similar experiences, cause so many Deaf are born to hearing parents. I'm not all that suprised. In the states, we have so many misunderstandings created by the hearing public and media. I had a lot of them before I became an interpreting major. I've learned a lot and had a very big change in mindset. I still screw up from time to time >.> but I'm still learning.
thanks. this was wakewolf's idea honestly. I made some side comment about furry interpreters page, and he was like DO IT....so i did it XD
He's posted some stuff here , but he has more that was published back when he was in school, but he is yet to put any of that up on this site.
I do some BSL, still a learner though :) David (husband) is extremely great at lip reading, and he understands me perfectly - only time we have to sign is with people he hasnt met before, or persons with strong accents, then i sign for him so he understands the conversation too. (or if we're having sneaky conversations LOL!)
He had speach therapy at a young age, but at the boarding school he went to, they didnt push for students to sign, they encouraged speech communications, so he is VERY good!! Majority of times, nobody believes he is deaf despite him wearing his hearing aids!
that is a great major! I'd love to do something like that, because its so important. Though i feel with all the work of charities, and even on the tele now there are deaf charecters in sitcoms, films ect, its more commonly known and respected!
alot of people don't understand how we communicate, and how a hearing person can be married to a non hearing individual, but its actually beautiful. We need eachother for different things - i help him when he doesnt understand, and he helps me when I get panic attacks, or my mental stuff flares up.
I'd love to do a sign language course to learn more and become fluent in BSL :) I plan on teaching our son how to sign small amounts too <3
