America is getting exactly the country and government it seems to want. They voted for these people and they keep voting for them - they give Congress the lowest ratings in history and then what do they do when voting time comes?

Vote for them AGAIN, that's what.

Just how many times did Todd Akin get re-elected? And serving on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology, no less!! And Wisconsin's Scott Walker? They even had a RECALL election...and voted for him, yet again! Texas' new anti-abortion laws? [You] voted for them, I guess they're just doing what they (think) you want. How about Michele Bachmann? We (meaning 'us' gays) even have the Log Cabin Republicans - hey, why vote with a conscience when you can vote exclusively by your wallet?! I even love the NSA backlash crap - you people GIVE corporations all your personal information, Facebook, Google, Verizon, Twitter, etc., but then get your tits all up in a knot when you think the GOVERNMENT might be actually getting a view of it! And then there's a congressman who is complaining that about the NSA programs - oh, yeah, you mean the SAME congressman that VOTED for the Patriot Act(s), the very thing that gave the NSA the powers in the first place??!

We're getting exactly what we deserve.

I no longer bother to read or listen to the news, it's the same thing over and over again. Same mistakes, same foolishness, same stupidity. And the people just don't learn a damn thing. I figure that the world is cyclic - it has a rhythm of ups and downs, constantly changing and swinging from one extreme to the other. At least, that's what my study of history has taught me. The cycles can be short, a few years, or the cycles can be long, centuries, but no matter - the world swings back and forth between extremes of fundamentalism and openness.

I figure right now we're (still) in the fundamentalist swing. Might as well get used to it, the swings have inertia and they stick around for a while before any level of change is apparent.

I just point at the name and laugh lots. They could fuck off for all I care:P.
