Well thank you and I wish that was the case. When I go on family vacations its with all of my mom's side of the family. Grandparents, cousins, aunts, uncles, etc. And if I want to sit in one room and do nothing but draw my mom gets upset and starts ordering me to go hang out with my cousins. It's my vacation, however I can never do what I want on my vacation. In other words, It wasn't relaxing and I feel like I still was at work for a week with how stressed I still am.

Sorry to hear....large families can be...tough. I have experience with that. Mexican families are the WORST. "WHAT?! You didn't attend your fourth cousin's (out of like 20) second birthday party at an overcrowded chuck e. cheeses with a bunch of whaling rotten little brats because you had to WORK?! You're a MONSTER!!!" uggh... >.<

Oh man I have too many friends that have told me stories about that. I wish that I could help them with stuff like that but that's just how Mexicans, well most Hispanics, seem to be. I do like being a close family and stuff but I would rather people understand sometimes you gotta do things for yourself and not EVERYONE.

EXACTLY. That's one of my CORE beliefs and Mexican culture is the OPPOSITE. SO frustrating. All I hear is, "¡para la familia!" To which my usual response is, "gotta help yourself before you can help others!" Or when I'm TOTALLY fed up, "I am three quarters scots-irish! I was raised a redneck! The white blood wins out!" lol... XD

I mean I would be interested in looking into and finding out where that belief came about..?

Hehe...very much agreed! I hate their "old fashioned" mind set. They say older values are best...but do they realize that in the old days they psychologically abused their kids by telling them they're going to hell for lying? lol...

The way I see it anything "old fashioned" is very interesting to learn about but it isn't something that I personally believe should be practiced now. The times have changed and with that it's best for people to adapt and change. One of the few things that I really like about this generation is that we are so used to changing about every other month when it comes to technology and such that most of us are able to apply that same way of thinking with everything else in our lives, while the older generation are simply stuck.
