Sketch dump... character dump... adoptables dump!

Statistics are like a bikini: what they reveal is interesting, but what is concealed in them is crucial.

I may not exactly agree with the term 'dump'... but yes! Every now and then I see people doing this; they post either a collage, or a series of pictures they have drawn over an amount of time, an tag it as a 'sketch dump', or in some cases a 'character dump' when all the sketches/drawings are of one specific character. This kinda got me thinking...
I have a lot of adoptables. I actually have too many adoptables, because I already have so very very very many characters, and why would I take on the stress of owning even more of them? Well, in most of the cases, it's because I just can't help it! I see artists putting amazingly lovely and cute characters up for adoption, and I just have to have them!
Now, that does pose a problem now and then. Because; what on earth am I going to do with all those characters? Some of them I adopt because I can see them being very good addition to the cast of my existing story series, but most of them I usually adopt because I love how they look! And then I end up with a bunch of characters who do nothing but collecting dust in my Adopts folder... which is such a shame!
Of course, I could do what I have seen a few people do sometimes; put my own adopted characters back up for adoption. But that's not what I adopted them for in the first place... I adopted them to use them! To create names and backstories and personalities for them and see them come alive in stories I write and artwork I commission! (or in rare cases, draw myself)
So how can I fix that?, I thought to myself. And then a couple of days ago I saw a collage labeled 'sketchdump', and it suddenly gave me a wonderful idea! I'm very good at writing slice-of-life stories, and if I can't use a number of my adoptables in my already existing story series, why not give them their own series? So that is what I did! I created a large apartment building somewhere in Arkansas, and the sole purpose of this building is to fill it with my adopted characters that can't fit into my other story series, and then write stories about them!
So yes, I kind of made an adoptables dump. But it's a very classy building! In no way can it be seen as a dump! =~.^=
Judge for yourself; the first installment, featuring four of my adopted characters, has just now been uploaded to my gallery and can be read here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11231559/ =^_^=
Now, I know full well that I should in fact be doing more writing for my already existing story series. It's been way too long since we last saw something from Mara & Celeste, and there's still a lot to write for Minty Mouse as well. But I can assure you, this new story series will be a very erratic one; I will only write installments for it when I happen to get an idea that won't fit into any of my other story series. The Apartment Complex will merely be a collection of loose, random stories without any specific kind of time line and without even any specific lead characters, and also without a regular update. There will be new stories for it only when I happen to think of something that won't fit anywhere else =~.^=

and that's just because....

Aww, well, thank you darling, I'm certainly not complaining
And best of all you can quit feeling guilty about those groovy characters you adopted who are just mouldering in your gallery waiting for a chance to shine! Way togo oh winged calico .....
Aww, well, thank you very much, dear! And indeed! I could so see this being the totally perfect solution for using all of those lovely characters that are still sitting in my Adopts folder doing nothing, and it leaves so very many options open; I can have some of the characters interact with each other, I can just show one of them doing something random, I can have some of them happening to just bump into each other in the building or on their way into the building, I can... well, do so very many things!
*chuckles and pokes out her tongue*
And I know, I know... it does kinda have a rather big F.R.I.E.N.D.S. feel to it... but hell, that worked, so why shouldn't I leech off that success a bit? =~.^=
Well, I happen to have the full DVD box set... all ten seasons. I like the show a whole lot. So yeh... I might even possibly steal some ideas from there sometime, who knows? =~.^=
