What made you a furry and what does your fursona mean to you
12 years ago
I am just writing hoping to get coments on my question. I have been a furry all my life but it took until 2010 for me to realise it and know that it is something I share with the world. I have always been draw to art of animals and cartoon animals and movies. I have always felt a sense of warmness from it that I cant explain almost complete. it may sound wierd but its true. I know I am d4awn to a feenec fos for my fursona but do not understand the little quirks that make me, me. I believe hearing every ones story will get me to undersand me more and the amazing world wide fandom im in. Please feel free to coment and ask any question's.

I've always had a passion for animals and my sona has changed a lot before she got to what she is now. My sona is everything I am and strve to be when I'm happy, and also personifies what I feel to be cute. I found the furry fandom via my friend from high school. he showed me his second life one day after school and I thought it was the sweetest shit ever! that was bck in about...2005 or 2006 I think? I didn't start going to meets or cons until 2010. but iI'm so glad I did!

I went through a few fursonas in the past, but the one I settled on was an otter. I picked it because I felt it was the animal that best suited my personality and it is an animal I have always had a fascination with. The more I researched otters, the more I could relate, its like nature's playful, ADD, excitement filled fuzzbuckets. I just decided from there on that that was what I wanted to be, instead of just picking something I liked art of, like dragons. I feel the fandom is a place I can go to be with people I can relate to, most furries I talk to, especially at conventions, share interests with me on more than a few levels. We will go from talking about animals, to video games and music, movies, hobbies, and things like that. Furries just kinda click, I think there is something for everyone in the fandom and I think we are a society of our own now. If you look furries are as a whole discarded by the public, people don't see us as we are, but more so as a group of perverts and animal abusers, even though thats only a small percentage of the whole. We still stick to the title though, I think we do it because we all have a love of art and animals, we have common interests. That has made us strong, we don't discriminate or judge, and everyone is friendly and positive (most of the time). thousands of people in hundreds of countries, all forging friendships and telling jokes. Its unity, and honestly I think the world needs more of that. THAT is why I'm Proud to be a furry and thats why I joined the fandom.
