100 Million Wii's
I remember when I saw this trailer...8 years ago!
I was amazed. Not for the technology but because of the simplicty of the controller. I hated the GC, PS1/2 and Xbox controllers and how games were getting too much complicated to handle. I was just imaging how games would be simple and fun to play once more. The sky was the limit. The future seemed promising.
*sighs*
The Nintendo Wii has just hit 100 million consoles.
That makes it the 5th best selling console of all time.
Wow. 100 million....I honestly believed that by the time it successor would appear it would sell much more. But after 3 years of smashing sales, Nintendo let it dry and focused completly on the Nintendo 3DS.
Third parties hated it. They blamed the technology (because suddenly making games like they have done in the past 10 years wasn't possible anymore), the users (damn you ztoopid kazualz), gamers (games are ART!!! And for us! and they are not mean to be FUN!!!).
Meanwhile, the rest of the world loved it. Wii sports made people enjoy games like they did with the Atari 2600 and the NES. Gaming was being for the masses again and the future was bright.
But miyamoto, the george lucas of nintendo and his cronies hated it.
Mario Galaxy was meant to be the new Super mario world. The masses said no.
Wii music was meant to be the new wii sports. the masses said no.
Pikmin 1 and 2 would have sold better. The masses rejected them.
Zelda full of puzzles was meant to be as succesful as the NES and SNES ones and the masses rejected them...for the 5th time.Fucking Aounuma.
Miyamoto tried to destroy Donkey Kong country but it sold well despite his intentions.
Oh and we better dont go with Metroid Mommy, sakamoto's hentai obsession.
In 2011 Nintendo decided to kill the console that saved them and instead announced it succesor: another Gamecube with the rejected Connectivity in it: Wii U.
Listening to the idiotic Industry and its gamers, they thought that labeling it Wii would sell like millions. The masses reminded them that they are not stupid. Unlike what the stupid game jokernalists, ANALysts and the geeks and otakus of the internet made them believe so, the masses doesnt buy "anything" they see with bright colors.
The Wii could have sold as much as the PS2 even without the obsessive 3d party support. But Nintendo killed it. Could have been another NES phenomenon like when it started it but instead it ended like a Nintendo 64. It was created to avoid a game industry implosion like what is happening right now but Nintendo was tired of not being invited to the frat boys parties. This next generation doesnt have a bright future but a very grim one.
I am personally happy of being alive during the small revolution the Nintendo Wii was. Game jokernalists and forum fauna will rewrite story and will say that people played wii sports because of the funny controler. But I was there, seeing how people loved playing tennis and bowling in front of the TV. How people cheered the return of Mario on their TVs (NSMBWii). How gaming shown that exercising could be fun (Wii U) and it was for a small time a console full of classic games from many generations (Virtual console). I was too young to see the revolution the NES did and missed it. I know I wont see a new console pull such a feat in another 20 years or so.
Happy 100 million consoles Wii. You deserved a much better ending.

FA+

i could do with some venting, myself...
I felt the same way with that trailer.
I watched the trailer tons of times.
I used a regular remote for 'practice.'
I even repeatedly watched this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rkj2.....199C9DCF602A5A
I even watched Nipponese gameplays of 'WarioWare: Smooth Moves', sometimes even mimicking the motions with a real remote.
I got one for Christmas 2007.
—girl look at that body.
I noticed this, myself. I do not know if this is due to me ignoring games that are racers, sports, shooters, or third-parties, but I had noticed a lack of games that actually use the motion capabilities of the Revolution Controller. /gave up on using the special grammar rules associated with the new 'Wii' name/ I enjoyed Trauma Centre, but...
...right now, I take hold of any Revolution game that uses motion controls.
I find this funny that Nintendoo once said that the reason why the controller did not have a touch screen was due to that route leading to essentially two separate Nintendoo DS consoles: one for handheld, one for console. However, this present day, Nintendoo went with this.
and yeah they contradict so much that is annoying. :/
...contradiction? Sometimes, people who work at gaming change their minds. (See: Mother 3)
Right now, I do not even use the Nintendo Revolution for gaming. Dolphin Emulator is more convenient. (I am playing all 3 entries of Super Smash Bros, even though I have the original discs, albeit broken..) I use my computer for gaming in general, anyways. Of course, I still have GameCube and Revolution games that I still have to play.
Even so, I am more excited over mobile operating systems (Blackberry, Firefox, Sailfish, Ubuntu...) and working on my Raspberry Pi than the gaming systems. In fact, I would rather get a 3DS LL (due to several games that had been going there) while buying a used PlayStation 3 and XBOX 360. I am suspicious that my disinterest in gaming is not due to me growing up...
Also, the 1st preview could be Project H.A.M.M.E.R...
