Well that was a fun night! I'm back from St. Louis and the event was much like last year's in its flow, but it was also very different. This year it was hosted by Aaron Webber rather than the clueless person who did it last year (she pronounced echidna like the ch in church).
For starters we arrived three hours early and waited calmly in the shade, talking to fans as the crowd steadily grew; we were able to get special tickets that let us in early.
Upon being let in my first move was to play Sonic Lost World. I will say the game is gorgeous, no matter how cartoony it looks. The controls take a while to get used to but I'm already positive about it.
The Crush 40 concert was grand as usual. As Crush 40 and Jun Sunoue played alone this year, they were able to squeeze in more songs. For example, they were able to play I Am All of Me!
The Q&As were fun but I was kind of distracted. One notable part was Iizuka once more being pestered about SA3. Guy can't get a rest!
Costume contest was won once again by a robotic Sonic, complete with electrically-glowing eyes and engine. Aaron Webber was noticeably intimidated by the Tails Doll.
News wasn't as good as last year's, as it was all Lost World stuff. We did get to see the full English cutscene that was shown in Japanese a week ago, however, and that was grand to get context.
Once the event was over I stuck around and was able to get autographs from Kazuyuki Hoshino and Aaron Webber. Topping the night off was Aaron, standing outside, being asked about autism in the Sonic fandom and giving one hell of a reply!
Hope to see you all next year; it's time to plan my trip to Expo 2013!
