taking a hiatus

posting this on my DA and FA:
i will be inactive on this website until at least january of 2014. im entering my last semester of college and it is beyond imperative that i finish my senior thesis and film so i can graduate. it's going to require pretty much all of my time and energy so until im done with it i just dont have the time to do other art or deal with online stressors.
my family is also in the midst of moving across several states, myself included, which is another massive pile of Shit To Deal With. that should ideally be finished around the same time my semester ends but everythings still kind of up in the air.
if you're waiting on me to reply to a note/comment/gift please allow me these few months to deal with my life business, i feel like a piece of shit ignoring everything but i literally have to at this point. i know i have a few people with outgoing commissions, if you at any point would like to cancel then please send me an email at HZS91[at]hotmail.com and i can refund you in full, i dont want you to feel like im trying to cheat you out of anything.
so yeah apologies again, ideally the mess that is my life should be (mostly) cleared by the time its 2014 and i'll be able to resume activity and actually drawing things because hey turns out art school makes you hate art go figure. thank you for your patience.

FA+

I've been slacking off quite a bit.
Also hope it goes well with the moving. Lots of things going on in your life, but they aren't exactly bad things, so that's good.
And yeah, drawing so much as a requirement definitely does have its toll on just how much you like doing artwork. I only did a year of it and figured that out pretty quickly.
Wish you the best, and don't worry too much about online stuff. Definitely not as important as real-life engagements.
I'm assuming your senior thesis is an animation for a portfolio? I'd love to see the finished project when it's complete! I'm sure it will be awesome. You know, I've missed seeing animation from you. Otherwise, have any specific plans after graduation? And where are you moving to if you don't mind my asking?
Moving to Chicago actually, happy to be going back permanently
That's awesome!! My dad just moved to a beautiful house in Arlington Heights, it's a lovely place c: But now I'm moving to St Louis for college so I won't be visiting Chicago much aside from the holidays. Where are you moving to? (lol I know that's somewhat personal so I understand if you don't want to go into details.)
Aw you're going to St Louis for college, I've been at college there the last 4 years! What school are you going to? St Louis is awesome, definitely make it to the zoo (it's free!) and the City Museum if you have time. My parent's place in Chicago is in Lincoln Park, I'll probably be there for a month or two until I find a job but I'm eager to find my own place around that area, I love being close to the lake.
I'm going to Webster U, just outside of downtown. It was actually my last choice because of the price but I got some really good scholarships, visited campus, met some awesome people and fell in love! So I feel right at home, and am so looking forward to moving in this week.
I heard the museum is awesome, I visited it for a few hours when I was younger but didn't even see half of it. I'm really hoping to enjoy it to the fullest extent, and maybe even visit a con! Never been to the zoo, but Lincoln Park also has a free one. :D
Also, what kind of dog did you want to get? o:
I want a big dog! That's about as far as I have planned haha I'm not too picky. I'd love one of the low-energy big dogs like a Dane or St Bernard but a Shepherd, Pitbull, Rottie, anything like that would work for me. I window-shop the shelters weekly and I'm sure I'll be able to find a nice puppy
We should totally hang out on campus sometime!! I'm in Maria Hall on the first floor. ANd if I meet Alice I'll be sure to tell her :D l;kafkhkag this is so awesome are you only taking the senior overview this semester or are you in some other classes? And do you have any recommendations/advice for what classes and teachers to take or avoid?
Good luck with the dog :D I wish they allowed pets on campus, then I'd get a dog and a bird which would be awesome. Speaking of residence halls what are your experiences with them? o:
I'm taking three other courses in addition to my overview, a religion course on Judaism, english course on Human-Animal Transformations (werewolf class hell yeah), and Background Painting. Hmm in terms of teachers... Chris Sagovac is the animation advisor and he teaches some of the classes, he's a really cool guy and is super nice (he's easy to spot he's like 8 feet tall). If you take fine art classes (intro to drawing, figure drawing, etc), Loudenback is a good professor to have. Matt Kindt teaches some character design/comic classes, he's an awesome teacher and has some really cool comics he's published. Most of the teachers are pretty good honestly. I can say though that if you do take Figure Drawing sometime, there are two teachers that offer it - you want to get it with Loudenback, the other teacher is a bitch. And there are two 3D animation professors, Roder and Thatcher. Roder is supposed to be decent (haven't had him before but he'll be my Background Painting teacher), personally I really didn't get along with Thatcher, at all, but I know some students have liked him so I guess it varies. That's really been my only negative experience though. My favorite classes so far have been Character Design and Comic Book Creation, they're really fun and you can take them more than once if you'd like :D
Yeah I hate that no pets are allowed, especially since the head of housing has a cat x3 I actually work at an animal shelter that's about 5 minutes outside campus, so if you ever want to tag along and spend the day playing with some of the puppies or such you're definitely welcome to! Or if it's something you're interested in, the volunteer program is really easy to get into, it's a great shelter. It's also right next to an art supply store if you ever need anything for your classes
I was actually looking for an animal shelter/store to work at!! I'd love to go with you. I just moved in. When do you work? I'll be going home labor day weekend, but should have time during the week. We should totally plan to hang out more!
Oh hey then that's awesome :D Their website is http://www.apamo.org/home.aspx , you can submit a volunteer application online and they'll call you to schedule an orientation (you go there for an hour or so to learn the basics of where everything is), and after that you can come in as often/little as you like. It's a really great shelter, it's no-kill and they have great facilities and lovely animals. I just sort of go whenever I have the time, but if you decide to get involved we can work out a schedule and carpool and such. It isn't a paying job if that's something you need though, I know there's a Petsmart and a doggie daycare place in the same area though if you maybe wanted to give them a shot.
I'd love to work there but unfortunately it's too far to walk D: But I would totally love to visit with you sometime, or maybe take you up on that offer to go to a the art/grocery store~ Is there any time in particular you'd like to hang out? ^^
Sounds good! I'm free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays after about 1, I can sometimes do Saturdays but that really depends on how much homework I have that week so the other days would be best
How about next Wednesday since the whole school has the day off? ^^ WHat would you like to do, and when?
That's our campus-wide Volunteering day so I'm actually going to be working at the animal shelter I mentioned earlier, since that's one of the places webster students can go for it. Have you signed up for a place to volunteer yet? Because if you'd like to do that I can carpool you over for the day. Or if you're taking the day off then I could probably have time to stop by the grocery store or Target or such afterwards if you need anything from there.
I looked at the volunteer assignments but unfortunately all of the ones I liked were filled. :c I do need to go back to the store though and lugging groceries for a mile is super annoying so I'd truly appreciate the carpooling thing lol. I'm afraid it won't be very interesting though, did you want to go anywhere else then, or later?
