Is it bad that Im actually happy that Starks are dying one by one, so I dont have to read bout their stupidity (Ned) or their depressions (Bran)?

The fact that he killed off my favorite Snow, it really killed most of my interest in the story. I won't say which one as it's spoilers for those who only watch the tv series. Ned was only stupid in that he was dedicated to his honor but he was fairly intelligent in dealing with the people of his kingdom and those who lived there.

Thats the problem i had with Ned - he was honorable, and thats good, but did he really have to be so stupid about it? His whole intelligence means nothing if he rushes into his certain demize, and only thing i can tell is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMWgT5xfpig

The Starks as a whole are mostly a plot device to not only justify how horrible the villain status of the Lanisters but to justify the readers hatred of them. It's not the best way to build that plot device with Ned Stark and his dog-like pursuit of honor, but it isn't horrible either.

Truth be told, hardly any character in the book is likeable, aside from Arya and Tyrione which are my favourite characters. Seeing that every character is flawed, their Pride, Honor and what so ever control them, makes everyone a plot device for the story. Im still torn apart between thinking that the characters are badly written, simply represent their strongest character trait as in comics and thinking that the book is written really well - either way, Im pretty hooked on this thing, so yeah, anything i say might be ignored XD

:) I don't want to ignore your opinion, I can certainly see why you feel the way you do about them. I just approached the book from the start in a different way to understand and empathize with the plights of the characters.

Hey if it wasn't for the Starks and there constant mistakes there'd be no story.

Without the Starks, it would be Joffrey waiting for winter, because Robert would have killed Daenerys. Stannis would not have hired the red women cause he would have no claim to the throne. There would have been no war between the north and south without Robb. Theon would not need to be tortured. Tyrion would not have had any place in politics without Catelyn. Jon snow "Targaryen" would not have been the ice in the song of fire and ice "Theory." Brann would not stop the white walkers "yet to be reviled." Nothing would be going on without the Starks, you may not like them, but they are the story. I on the other hand love the Starks and their ways.
