And yet another IP fucked up by the usual "I want to cram politics into the narrative, but am too creatively bancrupt to come up with my own, original ideas" crowd.
It always amazed me that creators unironically think that they can kill off the main character (spoiler alert) twice (another spoiler alert), switch them up with an unlikable asshole that is supposed to be our new main character and a stronk, independant woman aka a woman that is just an amalgamation of toxic male and bratty behaviours as they usually write them, and expect people not to get fussy over it.
Its He-Man - if ya just wanted to cram identity politics in, make everyone gay - hell, ya dont need to change anything, aside of letting them get out of the closet. Or heres a freebie - set it in the world a 100 years later - there, ya can have yer cake and eat it.
I know that i always whine about this, but its pretty simple for me - this is not art or creativity, this is wanton destruction for sake of destruction. Shows like Steven universe are proof that you can preach your world-view AND create something in the process. It also seems to me they are head over heels to create a labeled characters (trans, gay, poc, whatever) with zero personality or being interesting, but just to be there and "represent" people that are more than just their sexuality, gender or skin color in worst way possible. At least they got better and representing sexuality and realized that ya can do it without ringing the "gay" bell anytime the character is on screen. And lets be honest - unless romance or outright porn is involved, characters sexuality has no impact on the story - unless ya want to make a "pain" story to illistrate how horrible people have it.
Back to the new She-Man doe - boring netflix trash. See ya next year when they ruin street sharks!

I shall say that the 2002 remake was one of the greatest reboots of older series.
But this''continiation'' rape of the original is horrid sewage sludge of a series.
People have zero clue how to use internet and social media, which are, for all intents and purposes, a rather new phenomenon, and think they are the perfect place to gauge how and what the public is thinking, what priorities they have etc. Internet is a very polarized place, where the "grayscale" of life and political views doesnt exist, since its so easy to slip into tribalism cause, no matter what ya is into, there is a forum for it somewhere. This further leads to vilifying people outside ones tribe and attributing evil agendas to them (eg. "conservatives are nazis" "Liberals want to fuck your kids" etc.) - thats not to say that such people dont exist, its just that their voices are amplified on the internet where, 30 years ago, you wouldnt hear shit from these people.
This brings us to the companies that, in endless pursuit to raise their winnings, look at the internet to feel the pulse of what people want and come away with skewed ideas, where they think woke stuff is what 99% of people want. That paired with the fact that most creative industry is liberal/progressive and that the woke stuff is "ideology of the month" for several years running, ya get this useless garbage shows churned out.
I was aware of the rumors going into the show so it didn't surprise me when the show just shit itself halfway into the first episode and became all about the Unlikable-At-Arms.
I'll give the show credit for trying to expand on some of the side characters like 4eye and his robo cult. But that was about the only positive I can look back on as there was nothing enjoyable about listening to Teela and Evil lyn whine about their male counterparts.
And on a curious note. The fuck was with that teelas fear shit in episode 3 or 4. How did her fear go from being about he-man to being afraid of how special she is? Just wtf?
I dont know how they expect us to look forward to part 2 after this. They killed he-man twice and even said the second time that if he goes back thats it. The fuck are they gonna do? Go to double heaven and bring him back again?
Maybe they do have the most amazing story planned for part 2 but who the fuck is going to have such expectations after the abortion that was part 1
Teela is Mary Sue that hatched into her world perfect, so her only problem is how perfect she is. Shes same as whatsherbucket from new star wars movies, just a bit more bratty.
Then again, if they cared about people they wouldn't have thanked the security teams for the concentraition camps holding the Uyghurs for their organ harvesting.

I get so g'damn pissed off at what they've done to all the once-great fandoms and stories we used to have. Then my generation came in and fucked it all up with overly politicizing everything with lack-luster writing and 1 dimensional characters.

Oh, he said I, Jedi was a GREAT book. I just ordered it and gonna break my rule of 'read them in chronological order' cause I haven't been reading them due to being disheartened out of the franchise. But I'll give it a shot. Thought another fan might like it too ^_^
More of a Warhammmer 40k fan, but games workshop is currently sinking the franchise cause 3d printers are going to destroy their business model. Theres also some woke BS going on, but thats tangential
People would be more then happy to keep buying their over-priced models if they kept to doing what the fans were there to do in the first place: Enjoy the WH40K lore and activity. The more they keep shitting on their fans, the harder the fans will rather download and 3Dprint their own toys instead of support the main franchise.
I'll support an indie builder over a mainstream AAA builder at this point on principle.
The reason i say its tangential is cause, like all of companies, they give less of a shit about woke stuff and just ride the bandwagon cause they think this is what public wants, but they are rather transparent than most in showing how little they care about it really. I mean, they added a plothook that allows people to have female spacemarines, but then made that plothook solely responsible for all the crap that went down aka woman ruins everything cause hysterical. They are, as said, terriffied of 3d printing and are throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks, trying to either transition to some cinematic universe or get bought up by some other company.
Oh okay, fair enough. I misunderstood the context there. It seems that trendyness of new companies are worth crap. But the fact they can see #GetWokeGoBroke yet never learn and adapt from it, shows the message is more important then the employees' careers, the companies profits, and it's future while the money runs dry.
I find the 'throw everything at the wall and see what sticks' approach tends to shoe away the potential customers that got caught in the crossfire of the slingings, ya know?
Theres just no money into catering to niche audience anymore for big companies, so they eagerly jump on woke boat to shun those and appeal to the greater masses they think social media represents. Though, the cynicism of it all amuses me to no end - like that rainbow street crossing unveiled on june the 1st and promptly paved over on june the 31st at midnight.
The sooner the people realize companies arent championing their cause and simply try to win them over as customers, the better - none of the companies that kept spouting how much they love lgbtq+ people and how much they disavow people who are against them, have zero problems conducting their business in china, uae, russia or any other country that criminalizes lgbtq+ people. Shit, they only ever started doing it when it was culturally acceptable to do.
