Changing my style, closing commissions indefinitely
12 years ago
For the first time in years, I'm closing commissions completely.
I'm currently really unhappy with my art style. I don't think it looks bad per se, I'm just incredibly bored of it. I fell into doing realism because that's what everyone told me would be more professional, what people would want me to do, etc. But truth be told, I'm sick to death of drawing it. I don't have fun with my art anymore. I think that's really obvious in some of my recent pieces that I just don't care anymore. I don't want to sell people sub par art, so I'm closing commissions while I figure this out.
There's a very good probability that my style will change drastically, and I'll understand if any of you want to unwatch me for that reason.

And of course! Just because I change my style doesn't mean I won't draw a lot of the same subject matter. In fact, I'll be drawing even more different subject matters because I'm going to try to stop being afraid of drawing stuff I enjoy because I worry whether people will like it or not.
After thinking for a while, I think what I'll end up doing is developing two distinctive styles for myself. One a bit more realistic and one a bit toonier. I don't entirely hate my style now, I just think it's boring to draw realistic all the time.
