aaa yes that is exactly what I'd like to do! I LOVE that sort of imagery (we just rewatched I am Legend and that beginning scene where it just focuses on his survival and ignores the viruszombievampirethings is so so so good). I had no clue there was a video game that played into that same sort of thing (I feel like I'm the only person on the internet who isn't a gamer, though I love sitting through playthroughs while working) but I'm definitely going to watch the that now, thanks!!

I really like this sunny and green style of post-apocalyptica http://www.justpushstart.com/wp-con.....us-preview.jpg so in keeping with that I was thinking of maybe a scene of Nico fishing off the top of a flooded overpass, with some rusted cars sunk beneath the clear blue-green water, perhaps some nice towering clouds in the background http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...../Turkey_tower_(Cumulus_congestus).jpg/300px-Turkey_tower_(Cumulus_congestus).jpg for a little extra drama in the composition. I think an overpass like this http://www.sff.net/people/yog/drega/9_Overpass.jpg would provide the right sort of scale for the composition, though it could do with a few derelict office blocks next to it.

I'm right with you with the green overgrown post apocalyptic btw. thinking about plants and animals overrunning a fallen human civilization is one of my favorite things to do!

Hmm, tough choice. I think these kind of images work best when there's a contrast of scale in the image to emphasize the "alone in a big empty world" feeling, which would probably be easiest to pull off with a view from below, like the right-side image, but maybe make the composition taller so Nico is on the lower 1/3 and have the clouds and buildings towering behind. That way you have the cars, fish and Nico up close and cozy, then the clouds and buildings are huge, distant-ish and epic.

As for Nico himself, just the basic "with wings" should do. No need to get the tentacles wiggly in this one.

I haven't put a lot of thought into clothing, so if you feel inspired on something just go ahead and run with it. If cross-dressing tickles your interest you could maybe go with a lollipopcalypse style. On the other hand, if you get a nice "late summer heat wave" vibe going then probably something more like cargo shorts with a white shirt tied around the waist would work well.

aaah I agree with the below view. And while I normally go for a more "this is an apocalypse we don't have time for fassion" feel I think that in combo with an underwater view a loli style would add a surreal feeling that would be fun to play up on.

Are you alright with the figure being smallish compared to teh background, then? I always want to zoom out and get a feeling for the world but am afraid of losing detail in the figure (I'm working on an old computer so A4@350DPI is the biggest canvas I can do). But if you're ok with the zoomed out version I could put more time into the scene rather than putting most of my time into fur details.

Sure, that works fine for me. I know what my character looks like, so as long as he's not a little purple smudge in the corner it's all good!
