Most introductions to quarks stop at up, down, and sometimes strange and charm, just mentioning top and bottom in passing if at all.
Well on that aspect I don't think there is because I doubt any scientist has tried to figure that detail out
Actually, I do know the reason it's so massive; it couples strongly to the Higgs field. What I'm really asking is what makes it couple so strongly to the Higgs field.

Up and down were named just for two basic opposites, then strange because particles containing it are strangely more stable than equivalent ones without it, then charm for who-knows-why, then top and bottom in analogy to up and down. (they were almost called truth and beauty, again for who-knows-why)
