The Exception

Someone who used to be a very good and close friend until a very minor argument a few months ago said:
"That saying that says that people don't know what they have until it's gone? That's bullshit. They miss what they've become accustomed to. A habit. A thought, a belief that keeps them grounded. Something, instead of the someone, that can be replaced."
It's good to know that people are just things to her.
But you know what? That may be true for her, but it's not for me. I can't just put aside 7 years of my life. 7 years of experiences that I will never get back. 7 years of memories, of trust, of love. It doesn't go away so easily for me. I still miss you. And you know what? If you happen to see this, I don't care if you aren't talking about me specifically, this what you think of people and I don't expect to be the exception. I never should have expected to be the exception.
