Distribution of Wealth - Class Warfare - PLEASE READ!

So when have I posted anything political here, never I'd say. You're all here because of my photography, not my views on politics or social issues. This time however, I will open my yap.
To my American friends... In the coming months and years charges will be laid against President Obama saying that he is involved in class warfare. These charges will be true. Yes, you are involved in a class war. The modern assault on the poor and middle-class was started by Ronald Reagan in the 80's with so-called trickle-down economic practices that held the bizarre notion that if you give lots of money to greedy people, they'll eventually give some back to you. WTF?
That administration started the deregulation that you see now, freeing companies of 'restrictive' environmental regulations, freed financial institutions from oversight and allowed them to create mechanisms to further bilk the public. Remember the S&L bailout? Where did all that money go? Certainly not into the hands of the people who had money in those S&L's. All efforts to track down and recover money lost in that debacle were frustrated and fought at every turn. Suits were filed only to be struck down for no reason, the word came down from on high, hands off!
This was the start of a massive redistribution of wealth. Socialism for corporations and financial institutions, a practice that went into high gear in 2000 with the Bush administrations huge tax cuts for the richest of the rich. Median paychecks have gone down by 5.9% during the current regime, but Americans in the bottom fifth have seen their incomes sliced by 20%. How's that for class warfare?
Bailouts! Socialism for the rich. Where do you think the money from the latest bailout went? Well ten percent of it went to bonuses to people who can piss away what any of you earn in a year without even noticing! It was the last looting of the till before they booked it out the back door, burglar alarms ringing loud. That was your money, so what does your ass feel like right now? How's that for redistribution of wealth?
"It's not that I want to punish your success. I just want to make sure that everybody who is behind you, that they've got a chance at success, too… My attitude is that if the economy’s good for folks from the bottom up, it’s gonna be good for everybody. If you’ve got a plumbing business, you’re gonna be better off [...] if you’ve got a whole bunch of customers who can afford to hire you, and right now everybody’s so pinched that business is bad for everybody and I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody."
- Barak Obama
That's the statement Obama is getting all the flack over, but what's wrong with it? Is there anything there that ain't true? How the hell is any economy going to prosper if the majority of the people participating in it don't have any money to spend? My mom always points out the fact that people on welfare spend their money, it goes immediately back into the economy. What hurts the economy is the people at the top end who squirrel it away and do nothing with it. Guess who else was a Marxist socialist who believed in redistribution of wealth...
"Money is like manure - it's most effective when it's spread around widely'."
- John Paul Getty
That's right, J Paul Getty, the massively wealthy industrialist. So make no mistake, this is class warfare and you all have been on the losing side for a long time now. The Reagan administration unleashed a blitzkrieg attack against the poor and middle-class, this election was the Battle of Britain, and now hopefully the tide will turn. Class war? Damn right, and they have used every method at their disposal to disarm you. They've lost this battle though, the polls are so definitive that there is absolutely no way they can steal this one. If you wake up in the morning on Nov 5'th and find that they've declared for McCain I predict riots, justifiable riots and revolution, exactly what your founding fathers wanted.

The first punk gig I was at was a small hall gig featuring D.O.A. and Winnipeg's "Stretch Marks" Absolutely killer! I was 16 at the time, gods, 26 years ago! They're still one of my all-time favorite bands. Had a great time at Joey Shithead's place in Vancouver once, but that's a story for another time. Class war? Fucking rights and bring it on!
DOA - Class War
I want a war, between the rich and the poor.
I wanna fight and know what I'm fighting for!
In a class war, class war, class war, class war!

Also, DOA was great. I'm a big fan of Nomeansno, too.
I find it kind of odd that my favorite album released this year is from guys who are the same age as my DAD! OK. Maybe they aren't THAT old (Dad's 60) but the white hair... (Referring to Nomeansno's release of "All Roads Lead to Ausfart")
Anyway, Vote for Obama! (Well, you're Canadian so you can't... but I may become Canadian if the White House doesn't get it's head out of it's ass.)
As far as old punks are concerned I think the ultimate has to be the singer for the UK Subs. I actually did the fetch beer, pizza and drugs thing for them back when I was 19 and living in "The Cauldron". Very polite, great bunch of guys. Oi, quick bio check says that Charlie Harper their vocalist was born in 1944, soooo, 64 and still going strong!
Long time ago I saw this ripping cartoon that showed this old punk in a wheelchair (thus my expression, wheelchair-punk), full mohawk, leathers, chains, the works. He's got a miserable expression on his face and a nurse is coming to wheel him away saying "Ok Mr. Johnson, time for your Van Morrison!" Gaaaaaahhhh!
Looking for a pic of their singer brings me to this entry. Now there's a nice buncha guys eh? Woohoo! Great gig! Pics if you're interested.
This will be the most interesting of elections. The most closely watched and as far as I'm concerned it's the most important since when Lincoln ran. Obama has it, let's see what the scum do when they see it all slip through their greedy paws.
I'd love to make the cartoon into an icon/avatar.
The concert pics are awesome.
Well, I did my part and voted. If anyone asks me who I voted for, I will tell them Obama because his volunteers gave out free stickers. Heh. ;D
You know, now that I think about it, isn't the Reverend Horton Heat getting up there in years? He's well over 50, I think. I'm surprised he's still going with as much coke he's done. Ha ha.
Oh, and I loved the new photographs you just posted. I love the way you get monochromatic effects in nature.
If I were down south I'd be proudly wearing a badge that says "I Voted for the Nigger!" in big bold letters. I was thinking about a bit by Lenny Bruce where he advocates destroying the word, the hate in the word, by basically using the hell out of it. "And I'd like to see Kennedy introduce his cabinet this way, Hey America, I'd like to introduce you to the new nigger I have in my cabinet, he's secretary of housing and there's my kike who'll be in charge of transport and over there we have this wop who I've appointed foreign secretary and..." Obama: "I'd like to introduce my cabinet. This honky cracker here will be secretary of labor and..." Nah, I don't think the American public is ready for that yet.
One of my ex-boyfriends had a friend who was Korean. Some Nazi/redneck bastards were following the guy around the mall saying, "Chink! Chink! CHINK!" to Van. Finally, he spun around and screamed, "I'M A GOOK, GOD DAMMIT! GET IT RIGHT!" The two guys ran off. Van probably outweighed both of them put together. Heh heh.
I do use the term "cracker" when I refer to some of my redneck relatives. Ha ha!
I'm quite happy that the Big O won. History in the making. I know a lot of people are saying that but it is true. I just fear for his safety. There have already been talks of crackers wanting to assassinate him. :(
The photographs are very nice. Thanks for the link. I still like the "Fractalicious" one best. :)

I LOVE YOU, ATOMICAT!!!! DID I SAY I LOVE YOU??!!!!! FUCK WE'RE GONNA MAKE A HUGE RIOTS IF THAT HAPPEN!!
(If things goes well, I'll have my champagne ready)
My main point of course is that there has been a massive redistribution of wealth, from the bottom to the top. Sauce for the goose as they say. Oh there are so many false truths out there, like business taxes and unemployment. Some of the highest taxed countries have the lowest unemployment. It's all in how you use those taxes of course.
and yes there will be riots and war. sadly that is what the extremist christians want though. it would serve there purposes perfectly as far as thier whacked thinking goes. it would prove that the world is falling apart to thier masses. it would then preach this and of course salvation and try to take over to create their kingdom on earth to make sure the jews get thier temple built and that iran rebuilds babylon so the rapture will happen and everyone but them will die horribly but they get to go to heaven without dying which they want very badly since dying is scary....
Oh dying isn't scary, it's easy! You just walk into the hospital, say excuse me nurse, and then slowly slide to the floor, fade to black. No problem! No, dying is easy, it's clawing your way back that's a son-of-a-bitch.
I knew there was a reason I liked that guy! This is a great description of what I call "trickle-up economics" and I'm glad it's about to get a fair trial somewhere.
Hey, know what was happening at about the same time as the ave4rage life span started rising so fast at the start of the second industrial revolution? Not sewers, they came long before; not improvement in food standards, nobody could afford decent food; not vaccinations, Pasteur invented that a century or more before. Give up? It was the rise of trade labour unions and demands being brought home by workers for living wage. Finally people could afford decent food, could afford to get on the sewer lines, could afford to get their kids vaccinated! And it's damned well time we got back to that!
