No redeeming qualities for it AT ALL. You'd be better off getting your money back.

It really sucks for people who have jobs that take up the normal hours of the day that people would relax and play games. Or just have jobs that would take up the "business hours" on the game so you can't DO anything there, either. TOTAL BULL.

I haven't made it that far. But I would <think> that starting a brand new game, it would be able to present me with enough new info to learn, tutorials on things, places to explore, etc that would keep my attention for longer than less than an hour. :/ I did everything possible in such a short span of time and now I have to wait til around 9 AM to do ANYTHING else.
Currently, the residents are repetitive and annoying, all the stores are closed- I can't even go to the re-tail place to try and earn some money while I wait. THEY SHOULD HAVE SOMETHING that was 24 hours.... not just the store that builds houses. Gotta wait a day or two for that to happen. :/
And why the hell would the builder be up at midnight? UGH. The game really frustrates me. Truly.

Work hours can indeed influence how much you can enjoy the game, although everyone I know tends to love it even if they can only get around an hour of gameplay each day. You can somewhat help fix the shop issues by passing a Night Own ordinance, which makes all shops stay open 3 hours later (so most will close around midnight or 1 AM), but if you can't play until past 10 PM or so then yes it's either going to require changing your 3DS clock or sticking to playing on weekends.

Not an exaggeration if it's true. And it is for me, thus far.
I haven't been able to customize anything yet except put a flower in my character's hair and change her shirt to an ugly blue plaid thing.

Also, I have had a horrible track record of working practically every weekend (with the exception of maybe 3) every month for the past 3 months. That's an average of one weekend off a month. Guess what I'm likely to not be doing on these rare occurrences.... Playing a game that can't hold my interest or, in fact, hold any promise for me from the word 'go'. I don't want to have to change my clock because I like for it to be as accurate as possible. Blame my OCD.

I do appreciate the helpful advice about the Night Own ordinance, but I don't get home after midnight. Which puts a bit of a crunch on my window of gaming opportunity with shops being open. I just don't think I will ever be able to enjoy a game that you have to work a schedule around IRL time. Especially not for me at this point in my life.

Honestly, all your criticisms don't seem to particularly be the game's fault. Or yours, really. You gotta work for money, and money is always great.

Still, a few minutes' worth of research of a game, rather than the massive praise people have given it, to see if it's to your liking, could have saved you a fair amount of money in the long term, just for future reference. ^_^

I would sooner trust the word of people I know than ratings and whatnots of people on the internet or businesses that would likely follow every one else and say it was a great game just to boost sales.

Id rather take the word of people who have actually experienced the game firsthand.

"Research" is not the same as "reading reviews". I just meant, Google is your friend. ^_^ Searching Animal Crossing in general would have given you videos, information, the mechanics of the game, and would have saved you the hassle of paying for something that, from the looks of things, you're not even going to enjoy playing.

I actually do enjoy playing the game, since I had the day off and had time to play. The story is actually in motion now. I can actually catch things/sell things, do people favors, etc.
When I first got the game, I couldn't do diddly. And that's where I my hatred for it stems from.
I still have an issue with it because it's not often I get time off to be able to play and my hours make it difficult to play during the day time when most of the activity goes on in the game; so I still have issues with it for that reason.

SETTING ALL THAT ASIDE. It's a cute and fun game that I actually enjoy.

Sorry I rewrote my post since I felt it sounded a bit too biased towards the game and felt it would be better to just lay out what makes the game good to those who enjoy it.

Anyway, the Night Owl ordinance and some 24 hour locations like the Café and Island Resort (or ones that stay open until really late, such as the upgrade to the Raccoon Twins' shop that allows it to stay open as long as the recycle shop (which is 11 PM normal 2 AM with Night Owl) or the night club which stays open until midnight without Night Owl) help get around the issue but they take a bit of time before they appear due to the game wanting to ease you into everything enough to develop a schedule of sorts. Truth be told it really just sounds like this isn't the kind of game for you, rather than there being any big problem you're missing or with the game itself. Nothing wrong with that of course, circumstances and tastes vary after all, and for you this game just doesn't fit any of them.

Basically, the best things about the game are customization of your town, your house, and the aesthetics of the villagers and seeing its growth over time (both through things you add directly from public projects/planting things, the people you add/boot from the town, as well as things like museum donations). It's not really a hardcore game to be played hours on end though, so if you don't like that nor do you like anything listed then yeah, the game probably isn't for you.

it's a "relaxing" game. it's not suppose to be full of action/puzzle/adventure etc.

Which is why people might not like it. But at the same time, people friggin LOVE the game as well. Reasons IDK why yet.

It's not very relaxing when you have nothing to do. :/ To me, that's a waste.

And by the sounds of it, It's actually a character driven game (Talking to villagers) which they ask you to do things.

The problem with me not liking the game isn't exactly game content or how to play. It's that so early in the game, you're already limited (as usual in the beginning of every game). And you have to work around your IRL schedule to be able to play it effectively, which isn't easy for me because of my work schedule. The best hours for me to be able to pick the game up would be like 12:30-3am. And there's nothing to do at this time of the morning.
Very difficult to care for a game that you have to make a time-schedule for.

Which is a still a legit reason to stop because, you have no time. animal crossing I think has always worked on IRL schedules.

This is my first ever animal crossing game. Convinced by the joyous cheers of others that it was super adorable/cute/fun to play.
