Dream

☾✩ There was a town that I lived in that was often cold and trapped in a winter. No one was very close with anyone else. Friendship was looked upon as a weakness. I had gone into a book store; it was supposed to be locked I though, because no one was in the entire building. So I just sat down and pulled out a book, sitting down amongst the scattered puzzle pieces a child had neglected to put away.
Thats when I met him. I heard the bell ring from above the door as he came in, bringing a cold gust with him. I shivered and he looked surprised to see me. We became very good friends. After some time, we met her too; as we frequented the bookstore often after meeting one another, we had met her as well. Sometimes, we'd go into the library at night and explore it, finding ghosts and many paranormal beings wandering about. For the longest time, we were content. Until we found the Hidden Books deep within the bowls of the library. These books gave us knowledge we could have never dreamed of; we learned that we could use our minds to push objects, and even people. And it was then we learned about the Ice Children.
Our town was owned by Ice Children. Heartless girls who were frozen in their prime. No one knew what they wanted with us; perhaps they trapped us in a frozen wasteland to punish us for the death they met long ago. No one was sure. All we knew is that they were merciless, and they lived in a castle a mile off because when they saw any warm human, rage filled them and they soon killed them. There was a man, however, who was not afraid of them, and knew in his heart that it was wrong for them to control us. So he snuck into the castle with a gadget he had invented, and when the Ice Children set their cold dead eyes on him, he played a soft little tune on it, and they became confused. He told them they must bury the building in snow, miles and miles of snow, and that he would remain with them. The confused beings began to indeed do this, by slowly sinking their home into the icy remnants below. When he believed it was deep enough, he burried his way towards the front door, barely managing to escape through it. The Children screamed in fury as he ran in warning to the town; their absence would cause dark, ungodly creatures to lay seige to the town if nobody warned them on time.
We had no idea of the danger we were in. The knowledge we had learned was forbidden; any knowledge of the past and the Power was forbidden. How could we have known. Him and her were together by this point, and though I was a bit jealous it was good and we were happy. We were hanging out by the playground, and then I hear shouting. I look up towards the chain link gate that surrounds our small town, and I see a strange man running towards us. I meet him at the gate, and he shouts to me that I need to go into the Center and lock it up tight. Get the townspeople there. What on Earth was he talking about? I look at him with confusion, and then I hear a deep rumbling, and I look up, and I see a wave of ice and snow flowing from Their lair and I cant help but let out a soft cry of fear. I nod, now understanding, and I turn and flee towards my friends, grabbing their hands and sprinting towards the Center as I explained what I'd been told. I didn't need to inform anyone it seemed, everyone was beginning to see and hear the loud rumbling and also ran towards the Center.
The Center is a large, tall building in the town. It goes up very far, but even farther it goes down into the Earth. Up until now I'd never wondered what it was or why it was there, I had never even ventured inside... You needed permission to enter, but we had no time for that now. We darted past the greeter and into the lobby. The entire building seemed made out of sparkling gold, it was almost nauseating. Glancing up would show layer after layer of floors that seemed to stretch into the heavens, guarded by thick glass, a bright, glamorous chandelier hanging from the top of this floor. It was beautiful... I squeezed his hand tightly as we ventured into further in, and begin to explain the situation to the manager. To our surprise, he was more than understanding and helpful. But as we spoke, I hear a commotion behind us. Three men walked in amongst the running crowd that I've never seen before. They were asking the greeter about something, and my eyes widen in fear as I see the man raise a hand and point his finger directly at us with a scowl. The black clad men approached us, and I felt my heart drop.
Danger. I was frozen in shock until they were within five feet of me, and I whisper softly, but urgently, “run.” And with those words we darted off to a side room. The doors opened like an elevator, gliding open upon feeling a presence. We dart in, and the door closes on the one man who had followed us, locking him out. He smirked as he looked in at us, and then walked away. Wait. Only one man...? but there were...
Thump. Almost directly behind us, I hear someone jump from above. I spin around, and I see another of the men, approaching us and grabbing Him by the throat. He cries out in pain, but why...? It was only a touch, he wasn't even squeezing yet... She reacted faster than me, let out an angered scream, and thrust out her hand, sending a wave of energy blowing the man back. He fell to his knees, gasping, and then I saw his mouth fill up with what I could only assume was blood, and it was as he coughed and gagged and it burst from his lips. We were terrified. These men where trying to kill us. As the man stood up, angry at being caught off guard by something by this time I was sure he knew of, another character came into play.
I didn't get a good look at it, but it was a pale white demon... thats the only way I could describe it from the small glimpse I got. And it came in from a side door and lunged at the man, taking him to the ground and just digging in to him as if he was nothing but a pile of screaming jello. I fought the urge to be sick; we grabbed Him up and ran out the door we'd come in. I took a glance to the right; the front entrance was long sealed off, a wall of snow rushing past it. Anyone who had come in was now trapped, anyone who hadn't was being washed away by the snow... I turned away, hearing the agonizing scream from behind me, darting away into another room. Terror was rising inside of me; I could barely stand without shaking. We sat in silence in the room, processing, shivering. He was starting to recover from his injury, though I still cant comprehend where his injury stemmed from in the first place. For a few minutes at least, it was quiet. Until I heard the scraping. Clawing. And footsteps. It was the footsteps who reached us first. The other two men had showed up. I growled and stood in front of Him protectively, hand already outstretched. When they entered the room, I wasted no time slamming them into a wall. But I realized that it was not us they were after, in fact, they weren't after anyone. They were fleeing. Two more demons entered the room, howling out. The three of us darted up and fled, and as we ran out, we were swallowed up by a screaming crowd. I heard Her cry out for Him as their hands disconnected, but he was quickly lost amongst a sea of faces...
I had to believe that he could take care of himself. I had to hope and believe as I continued to pull her forward, to the front of the crowd, and through another set of doors that closed behind us. People pounded on the door, begging, pleading, and I could see their faces through the glass window on the door, but amongst them I could also see the demons. My hand reached forward to let in the closest people, but suddenly appearing by the screaming males face was it. I couldn't. It was the worst feeling, but I knew I had to let them die in order to save me and Her and those of the town whom had already made it through.
I turned to face the group of huddled bodies sitting down, crying, holding each other. I didn't see Him. I tried to push that thought aside, tried not to picture what could be happening to him at this very moment... Where was She? I looked around, but it seems she had vanished into the bowls of the building. I look beyond the group, and I see more of those creatures burst through a door into the hallway just behind the room. Although I sickened myself, I turned tail and ran left, down the hallway. I saw a staircase; I knew I could venture either up or down, and as screams rang up from the humans that had survived this far and undoubtedly wouldn't get any farther, and as I debated going up or down, I was suddenly cut short as one of those familiar yet so foreign pale white bodies skidded in front of me. I got a good look at it now, and it was terrifying. I think its face was the worst part. Human eyes, but not. Distorted, black holes that were soul-less. But its mouth.... It was also distorted, as if someone had smeared the left side, leaving a gaping hole as it screamed emptily at me. My hand thrust forward as I tried to throw it back, but it stood motionless against my power. What...!? My powers had no affect!?
